Anybody with grandchildren?

I do not agree that grown children should be out of the mother's house if the mother is a single mother. I do agree it's a team work and the responsibilities and house work should be a shared respond ability of all members accordingly with each one schedule and ability.
God's greatest gift is a child, and as a single mother of seven I have founded not greater reward that the love and the strength of the family. You never know what the future, tomorrow, holds. My youngest son was murdered at 16 years old and I'm grateful for the 16 years we as a family shared, it's a treasure no ONE can take away from us.

Grown children need to be out of their mother's house. And if they are living with you they need to pay rent. The 16 year old need to know her place as a child. For me a mother step-mom and grandmother, I was not weak I had to be strong. If your daughters are not married and bring babies in your house they need a rude aweaking. These children feel that they are entitled to live in your house and do what they want to do. Mom you have to know when to hold on and know when to let go. If you where dead they will have to provide for themselves. Mom and dad should have a home to put their own children in. Children at these ages should be focusing on education and planning how they are going to take care of themselves, now they have children, they need a job or going back to school to get and get educated. You are not the babysitter of those grandchild, you get them when you want to see them and at the end of that time mom and dad need to come get their children. Give your children a deadline to get out of your house. If they are having babies they need to provide everything those children need, and they need to stop laying on their backs and use that time to improve their lives. Everytime they ask you to keep the children tell them no, only watch them if they are working, but not all the time, they need a babysitter, and it is not you. I'll put it this way, I talk to my children and grandchild on the phone or when ever I see them. I will not put my life on hold for my childern when they are grown and having babies. Put your foot down and give them a dead line to get their lives togather, and get out of yours. You owe your children nothing, and they owe you nothing. Tuff love.

God blessed me with e grandsons. Timothy 7, Harris4, Donovan 2, I love them so much. I am 50 yers old, been sick with Vertigo, going on for over 2 months. No driving for me. I pray for healing, I am 87% better. Still walk with a cane. NO WORDS CAN SAY HOW I MISS MY BOYS. I PRAY EVERY DAY FOR THEM. I have no ride to see them. So I feel, God is showing me, inn his time. Hi, my name is Ginger and I'm 45 and I have 3 boys my two oldest are married. My oldest is 24 and in the navy and him and his wife have a 3 and 1/2 yr old daughter and a 1 3/4 yr old son. Hi I am a 57 year old woman with 5 grandchildren. I have taken care of the first one since he was three. He is now 11 1/2 so I truly empathize when some of you guys say that the parents decided to move away with the kids etc after you've looked after them - just as if they were yours, no doubt. But we love them all and we want only the best for them so we just do the best that we can.
My husband and I alos now take care of his sister, - 8 since she was almost 4.
Whenever the kids are ill, they spend time with us until they get better and so the bonds continue to be forged.

Mom/ grandma, if they are living in your house, it is their job to respect you and remember you are not a baby sitter. If you daughters are not married, they need to be mother and father to their children, not you. Put your foot down and demand that they take care of their own children, and not you. They have to go to work and school if they live in my house, not time to party, and no time for friends.... I hope that is what you want to hear... AND ANOTHER THING, YOU ARE NOT THEIR HOUSE KEEPER!!! If they live with you they must wash Iron cook and clean on top of taking care of their babies... put your foot down!!!

I would love to keep them by myself without my children, but that doesn't happen too often. I usually go to their house to visit them. It would just be nice to have one on one Grandmom time before they get too old to want it.

Shari, will he be with his dad long, maybe you can write him, kids love getting mail. What about email, or skype. Hi Meredith! I'm 44, second marriage, blended family - ages 32 to 20 and have 5 grandchildren! Can you say confusing?!! I have children and grandchildren from "previous relationships" but they are all mine! ♥
My "bio" daughter has a 2 yr old girl and they live with us while she was finishing school... now she's getting married in June and they'll be moving out. I was worried about "empty nest" but they all seem to still need us in different ways so it hasn't been a bad transition so far! Are your girls at home, at college, on their own? And isn't being a Grandma the BEST?! I can't get blamed for screwing them up ... I'm not their mom! Even though the little one lives with us and I do spend a good deal of time caring for her, I'm Mimi, not Mom. I set a solid boundry during the pregnancy and get to enjoy being Mimi. I'd love to hear more about you and your girls and how you juggle the multiple roles we live!

Hi Meredith! I have four children (25, 22, 21 and 19) - all girls. I have 3 grandsons (5 & 4 yrs old from the 25 yr old and 3 yr old from my 21 yr old). I love being a mom but it doesn't compare to being a grandmother!! Being a mom is a wonderful joy but you have to do all of everything... Being a grandmother you get to spend time with them, spoil them a bit and yet you don't have the same responsibilities with them as a parent. That being said I did have my 3 yr old grandson for 7 months while my daughter was going through a tough time. That was hard because it was like being the mother but it wasn't... I am 47 years old

They are sunshine in my life and I get a kick out of them, as a matter of fact they are coming to spend the nite tonight, so it's gonna be wild and fun!! hahaha!! The youngest grand, a boy, 3 is a busy boy and very smart, speaks clearly and knows his mind already and a fan of WWE, imagine that!! His sister, 8, who we called Sarah Bernhardt, is a serious drama queen and drools over Justin Beber (did I get that right?!), I guess he is to her what the Beatles and Jackson 5 were to me back then. She's a good reader and my road hog, you say let's go and she's ready to roll out!!! I enjoy helping them see and explore the world around them and teach them things. They are blessings to our family.
