The airline takes care of that. The chair does not go on the plane but again the airline that you travel with takes care of that when you book you inform them that you are travelling with an handicap child. I hope this helps a bit.

no you can not take a wheelchair onto a plane. My husband works for the airlines & knows. THey have straight seats that the airport personnel can place your daughter/son in & when on the plane they will transfer your daughter to her designated seat. Is there a reason that she/he can not sit on an airplane seat other than difficult to move her?

Hi Marilyn,

My name is Cleo, and I live in dallas, TX.I didn't know if there was a way that wheelchairs could go on a plane. So, this morning, I called American Airlines, and they told me no, a wheelchair could not go on a plane, but the good news is that they have people who will help you with the transfer from wheelchair to airplane seat.

Hope this helps you.
