Hi! I am a 50yr old mom to 5 and grandmother to 2. our son (my stepson) and his wife are divorcing,so he and his daughter have moved home. What a shock it is to have a toddler underfoot again! Also, our oldest has a newborn and I am looking for an infant seat (like we had in the 80s) or something similar,if anyone has any ideas.

NOTHING YOU CAN'T MAKE A GRANDMA TAKE HER GRAND KID.MY MOTHER IN LAW AND HER HUSBAND USE TO COME SEE THERE ONLY GRANDSON ,SO WE ALSO MOVED 30 MILES AWAY FROM MY PARENTS TO BE CLOSE TO HIS.AT FIRST THEY WOULD LET HIM SPEND A NIGHT OR TWO WITH THEM. THEN THEY WOULD ASK HIM TO SPEND FRI- SUN WITH THEM. SHE WOULD CALL ME FRI AM. SAY HE COULD'NT COME OVER THEY HAD A DINNER TO GO TO,HE HAD TO STUDY HIS SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON TOO, SO THE FOLLOWING WEEK THE SAME THING.GRANDPA DIED IN 2009 GRANDMA IS LONLYSHE WANTS TO TAKE MY SON SHOPPING,WANTS HIM TO SPEND THE NIGHT WITH HER,THEY HAD NO TIME FOR HIM WHEN HE WAS SMALL,SO NOW HE WANTS NOTHING TO DO WITH HER. ICAN NOT BLAME HIM. THEY WAS TO BUSY WITH THEIR FREINDS, THIS IS HER ONLY GRANDCHILD. HIS GRANDFATHER ON HIS DEATHBED HAD A TALK WITH HIM,HE SAID IF HE COULD HE'D TURN TIME BACK AND GET TONOW HIM, AND HE LOVES HIM BUT HE WILL NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH,GRANDPARENTS WILL REGRET NOT SPENDING TIME WITH GRANDCHILDREN.
MY MOTHER IS THE OPPOSITE BUT I WON'T GO INTO THAT IT'S A LONG STORY.

Hi I am fortunate enough to have my grandson with me he is seven months and growing fast. Fortunately Mum and Dad live with me as well so dirty nappies are presents for mum. I feel very fortunate I can share so much time with him but worry about how I will cope when my daughter feels it is time to leave the nest.

I am a 43 yr old "nana" raising my 17 month old Granddaughter and Nana to my new grandson (14 weeks). My grandson lives 5 mins away but I don't really get to be a great Nana to him because I am always in some sort of drama with the gdaughter's parents and My youngest does not want her family involved. Also, I have Rhuematoid Arthritis/Fibromyalgia/Nerve damage/etc and I think my youngest just feels like I have enough dealing with gdaughter and my illness so she doesn't leave grandson with me. She is very close to him though and really doesn't leave him very often at all anyway. I just feel bad that I don't get to be as much of a Nana to one as the other.

Hi Monica, I have 5 grandchildren, 3 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. My daughter's oldest son lives with me, he's been with me since the day he was born. He has ADHD, ODD, and Bipolar. He's a handful some days. I wouldn't have it any other way, since my husband passed away, it's just been JJ and I. I went back to school to get my Associates degree in Accounting. Some days, just getting out of bed and going is a struggle. JJ is my reason for getting up and moving every day.

I have three beautiful daughters that have given me 9 grandchildren. My oldest has a daughter (which we have raised she she was small and she's 17 now) and then she has 2 sons 10 & 9, we see them not as often as we should, my middle daughter has a step-daughter who lives in Illinoise with the great--grandson we see maybe once a year, and she has 2 daughters 11 & 10, we hardly ever see them either and they only live 30 min. away, then my youngest daughter lives next door with 3 boys 10, 7 & 3. We see them on a daily basis. The 3 yr. old is a toot, he's the last of them so talk about rotten!!! But they all are. I have truely been blessed with a beautiful family.

I am a nana to 4 wonderful grandchildren. I am raising one of them and have had him since the day he was born. He is now almost four years old and he is a handful. Imagine living with your grandparents? Can we say spoiled? It's really hard to be a "parent and grandparent "all at the same time. He just looks at you with those big bron eyes and your heart melts. Any advice on raising your grandkids would be appreciated. I have turned him into a little monster....lol

Listen, I have plantar fasciatis and have had cortisone shots for it and presently use tiger balm to keep it from coming back, I am myself 51 years old. My son is ADHD and has Ritulin that he takes for it. I make sure he has water after school so he won't have an overdose reaction. We all have our problems, but have got to learn to work with other family members. I do not expect cheerful susie, I expect a responsible adult to pick them up for an hour 2-3x a week. Either this or don't blame me if DSS takes over or I have food stamps and am proud of keeping my family together with a little federal help.

Hi Helaine, My name is Erika Jooste. I'm a 54year old grandma and have 2 grandkids. One is 2yrs and the other 5months. I am also suffering from fibromyalgia in a severe manner. I adore my grandchildren and see them almost every weekend. If I could I would love to have them with me everyday. They attended nurseryschool as from the beginning of this month, for my daughter-in-law started her own business. In the beginning I wanted to look after them, but you know, with fibromyalgia you never know how your next day is gonna be. When they visit me, I play along, run around and make them laugh much, but in the evening I cry myself to sleep, because of all the pains. So to be active for some patients is easy but for me it's just worsening the pain. So maybe you can have a gentle talk with your mother and try to understand her condition. Maybe if she knows you understand her medical condition, she will be more willing to help out with the kids. It's only a suggestion. Please try it out.

What do you do when you have a grandparent who won't pick up the kids after school when you work, even occasionally. We moved closer to her so that the kids could be with their grandmother, but she will not consider afterschool care even for 1 hr. I am on food stamps, and my husband just had a stroke. why did we move into a more challenging home, especially if she is retired? I know that she has fibromyalgia, but I also heard that this is easier when you are more active. I know she has a 82 year old boyfriend , she is 67, but he can be left alone by himself for 20 min to pick up the kids.

My husband and I have 5 grandchildren. 4 boys & the true ruler of the family - 1 granddaughter. the first 3 are only 7 months apart - now 5 and started kindergarten this fall. How much fun to see the wonder in their faces as they learn all the new things the world has to offer. They all live close enough so we see them when we can - some more than others. My son is dating a wonderful woman with twins so maybe I will have two more??? Being a Grandma is what I was born to do!!!!

I have 3 grandchildren and my son lives 18 hours away so I only get to see his daughter about 2-3 times a year. My daughter has 2 children and lives right here in the same town but is estranged I have not seen her son since he was 4 months old and he is 4 y/o now and I have never seen her daughter and she is 18 months old. My heart breaks everyday. All I ever wanted in life was to be a Mom, grandma and a nurse I got to be all of those and they have all been taken away by choices I did not make.

Hello! Yes, I live with my daughter and husband and their children, I moved in 3 years ago when my grandson was diagnosed with neuroblastoma cancer. I took care of the house and the older kids while she and Marcos where fighting this disease. Marcos passed away on August 26, a month shy of his fifth birthday. I remain with the family, and would not want to live anywhere else! I have 6 grandchildren total. My family is my life...no Florida retirement for this lady!!!

Yup, I'm a grandma with 6 grandsons that keep me busy!! In the morning I go to my daughters house which is 5 mins. away and get two of the boys off to school and then I go to work and come back when they come home from school. Then my other daughter has 4 boys and she lives 5 mins away from my daughter. Both girls are seperated and I just feel so bad for the boys they have no father to help them.
