Hi ther Pam,, I was born in Toronto,Ontario.. I moved to the east coast March of 2002,after my separation from my hubby.. I have no problem in sharing the raising of my grand-daughter at all.. She was born to my oldest daughter Charlene. well Charlene was born with Spinal Bifida along with other complications, was told she would not be able to have children,,well she proved the medical doctors wrong..anyway's being as disable and mentally delayed she was in no position to raise a baby,,Amber is a miracle child and I am blessed to have her with me. At the time of her birth CAS was involved and knew as well i did that ther'd be no way the my daughter could raise her,,so they apprehened her ,,and that's when i stepped in and said,,,wait a minute I will take my grand-daugher and raise her for my daughter,,she is not going into any foster homes and up for adoption..so Lord and behold I ended up with cusody of her when she was only 5 days old and has had her ever since,,she is 10 years old now..time sure do fly by..It hasn't been an easy path at times..as my youngest daughter was 13years old at the time of me taking my grand-daughter but i wouldn't of had it any other way!! It can be very challenge'ing at times but i wouldn't change a thing at all... My grand-daughter calls me Nanny as she knows that i'm not her mom,,she does keep in touch with her mom and see's her to as much as possible,,as her mom lives in Ontario..So visit's to Ontario usually only come once a year!!! If anything you would like to know just ask me. I don't mind sharing at all in the raising of my grand-dauther,,and thanks for you interest in this topic... Have a great nite.....TC

Talk to ya soon again..

Hi Lorraine, I am also from Canada...from Prince Edward County...in Ontario! 13 grandchildren...you are definately blessed. I would love to chat with you about raising your grand daughter...I am a mother of a 15 year old son, work full time, single parent, and am going to school full time to get my Early Childhood Education Diploma. I am currently trying to start up a Cangrands group in my area, but am also reaching out to other grandparents that are raising their grandchildren that are out of my area. I am interested in how and why you are raising your granddaughter, and how you are coping. I would never ask that you share personal information, or if I ask a question that is too personal, you don't have to answer it...I am just trying to help grandparents in this area by getting a wide spectrum of situations before this group starts up.

If you are interested, you can email me at 'wammomcrae@hotmail.com'.

Thanks Lorraine,

Pam
