I have an almost 13 year old who I have to remind to do that as well. Because it is nasty to do the laundry, I make him sort his own clothes and put them in the washer so I don't have to deal with the dirties.. Now if I could get my husband to do the same I would be in good shape... Eventually their butts are going to get uncomfortable and let them deal with it....I love this because I thought I was the only one dealing with potty issues!! LOL

my daughter (11 next month) is hopeless when it comes to wiping her butt!! She suffers from kidney problems so dribbles a lot and with her meds she can get diarrohea really bad sometimes so I bought her lots of white panties and when she saw the stains at night when changing, it really started to sink in!! Now I dont have to tell her anymore! Sometimes little things like that help, especially when its girls because they are so fashion conscious!

I sneezed mucous into toilet paper while my daughter was in a public bathroom and said to her " This is what grows on your pee-pee when you do not wipe." Then I told her later that I asked the question on the internet all about her. Then I told her that she could earn 25c per wipe on her chore chart for wiping, I hope this helps! (Her brother has encopresis and he gets to earn 75c per poop)
my husband says she would not understand the pics.

Yelling don't work, show them the internet gross pictures of pin worms that you can get from not wiping the butt and explain about infections for not cleaning down there very well, believe me they will start doing better hygiene. good luck

I think you just have to be pacient and soon enough it will work it's self out. If it still continues when they are in their teens then there's a problem..haha

Helaine:

I got a cure. Tell your kids you told everyone the don't wipe their butts If that doesn't work, stop washing their underwear.

to add a bit more - I think it is because kids would rather play than take the time to clean themselves properly but it is irritating.

Hi, It is funny you should present that question since I just did that very thing and than of course felt terrible. My daughter is 8 years old, we adopted her at 4 years old. When she came into our home she was like a baby, still in diapers, no words, could barely run, did not know names of common objects etc. She has come a long way but she still does not have a handle on some very basic things. At times I forget she is really only like a 5 year and was just potty trained at 4 years old. She always has dirty underwear, so the other day I got upset and yelled. YUCK
