He speaks very loud at times, but so does his dad. He went to his first movie and complained about the noise, his dad had to put his hands on his ears in order for him to watch. At first I thought this was behavioral, then it seemed to be occuring too much. I call his doctor's office and was told to bring him in. I hope it's not a problem with sensory or something like that. I've noticed anything new like climbing into play gyms he very cautious, however in the park he would go to the big area when he was 21/2. He does not seem to like enclosed things like the elevator, jumping houses and those height climbing gyms. I hope I'm not being parnoid, but it just sounds odd to me he was not that way year and a half ago.

P.S. daddy thinks I baby him, which of course is not the case, I encourage him to do things, but I do have RR Multiple Sclerosis and too much activity, I just can't do anymore. I am able to set up playdates and he is in day care 2x per week. He has alot of activity. I feel guilty as it is I can't run anymore, but he has a very active life.

So, am I being parniod about his sensitivity to noise or is he just acting normal to new surroundings?

Thank you, my sister in law told me about that, I will have in checked in a few months

to make sure it's not an inner ear problem. The doctor saw him about a month and 2 weeks ago and said his ears looked great.Thank you for the information, verty helpful.

I took him to the doctor and he said his ears look like he never had an ear infection,

He did have about 3 infections when he was younger. However he did say if it continues to have him eveluated by a specialist. Thank you.

Thank you, that is good to hear, no pun intended :-D. His doctor said exactly the same thing. He does react to motorcycles, the vaccum anything loud.

The sound in a theatre can be pretty loud & overwhelming for a 3-yr old. If he seems to over-react to things like planes overehead, or a sudden laugh, or the sound of a blender, he could be hypersensitive to sounds. My daughter is high-functioning autistic. She is hypersensitive to sounds, smells, taste, etc. Although, as she is getting older, she is learning to cope w/ her hypersensitivity. It's as though after being exposed to these things often, eventually it helps them to become desensitized. So, if he is hypersensitive to noise, he will probably learn to adapt.

Hi there I have 5 kids altogather they are all different. It could just be your baby not liking babys but I would get his hearing looked at. Dont ever feel you are babying him to much becouse there only babys once. Tell Dad to think about what he is saying. Babys grow really fast. My oldest will be a mom in sept and I cant wate to be a grandmother at the age of 41. take care and dont worry so much!

It very well could be an inner ear problem and easily diagnosed and treated. Best of luck with it.

I have an adotped child wih sensory issues and have cared for several foster children with varying degrees of sensory issue. If it is sensory there are lots of ways to support him and help him learn ways of coping and compensating. Eventually, it becomes less of an issue. One thing that helped little ones alot was having them carry heavy things, like filled 2 liter bottles. It helps the child to feel those muscles and have a better perception of where is body is and what it is doing. Feel free to say hello sometime!
