My granddaughters call me Gee Gee. I refused to be called grandma, granny, gammie, nana, nanna, or anything like these names.LOL

I am Nana ... all this others are grandma or grammy.. I have a 16 yr old grandson , a 3 yr old granddaughter, and a 4 month old grandson .. the first two are with my 34 yr daughter, my 21 yr daughter is the mom of the 4 month old... I also have a son that is 15 yrs old ... my husband of five yrs says I like to be called Nana so I don't feel so old... he is totally wrong it is to keep all other grandparents straight..

My daughter in law is the one that named me. I was 37 when she gave birth to my first grand child and she said I was way to young to be called graaandmaa (bless her heart) so she named me Mimi :)

my grandchildren call me grandmum. I like it because it doesn't make me feel old. my mom is nanna and my mother in law is grammy. although my oldest grandson calls me ma. maybe because he and my daughter lived w/ us until he was 6. she is mommy and I am Ma.

Not long before I knew I would be having my first grandchild, I was thinking about this and decided I would like to be called Mimi.. One of my sisters-in-law already calls me that as a nickname (my name is Amy and one of my nieces or nephews couldn't say it) and I felt it was a little different. My granddaughter, now 8.5 months, does not talk yet but I am hoping she will be able to say it. As Kathy said above, I will take whatever comes out of her mouth when she is able to talk. Another s-i-l is Geegaw because that is how her grandson said Grandma. And my bestfriend is Yemmy because her first couldn't say Memmy which is what my friend called her grandmother.

I have 5 grandkids they call me nanna, but now my 2 year old grandaughter calls me nina and i love it.

My mother couldn't wait to be a grandmother but my brother and I made her wait a long time. I was 30 before I had my first and my brother was 32 before he had his. She, like you, was having a hard time with what a "Grandmother" should be called and wanted her own unique title. My mother went with "Mamere"; French for the Mother's Mother.

I wanted to be called Nana even before I had grandchildren. I hated Granny. and my Mother is Grandma. So I got my wish. Before my oldest granddaughter could even speak well, she was calling me Nana and I love it!

my grandkids call me grandmom, when the oldest, now 9, was a baby he spent alot of time with me and my younger 2, and with everyone calling me mom, thats what he started calling me. And of course with that being my daughters 1st, it upset her that he was calling me "mom" so we put the grand in front of it and I became grandmom, making everyone happy.

My granddaughters (ages 7 and 5) call me grandma - but my grandson (age 1) calls me amma- I think he was trying for grandma and can't make the gr sound - lol - but I don't care what they say - as long as I get the hugs and kisses and they know that this grandma loves them bunches

I have been called alot of different things by my grandchildren but mostly grandma, my eldest grandchild spells it grama. To me I am proud to be Grama so I dont care what they call me as long as they know how much I love them and they love me.

I will be having my first grandchild in September. My daughter and I have discussed what we will be called. Neither of us likes grandma or grannie (my sisters choice). My grandmothers were called Nanah and my mom is Meemaw. I think we are going to shoot for Meemee, but whatever comes out of the childs mouth when he/she starts talking will be what it is. I'm just excited to finally be having my first grandchild.

I wanted to be called Nanna when my son had his first, but, my daughter n law was still in her phase of being insecure about her husband and mom role so after my Grand daughter was born she insisted on me being Mamma...well now they have twin boys and i'm like...(remember the ol sayin call me anything but never late for dinner?) as long as they acknowledge me and i get to see them they can call me Grandma or mamma...lol I'm just n love with them.
