Hi my name is Amanda, I have a 14 year old LD girl. She is in public school in Rockingham County North Carolina. We have had problems with teachers in the past, and have also had some very good ones. She is currently in the 9th grade self contained and has a wonderful teacher. Unfortunately that teacher is not happy at the school and has told them that she will not come back next year. I cannot tell you all how many times this has happened in the last 10 years. I am pretty much at the end of my rope. I have tried to find a private school for these needs and cannot find on that does not cost more than my older daughters college tuition. It is also 45 minutes away from my town and I have to work, so getting her there is a problem. I have tried to network with home school Moms to maybe find an avenue there, no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions? Do you know someone in my area?

Your best bet is to ring the local council and ask them for assistance in finding a suitable place for your daughter. In England it is the councils problem to find suitable education for every child whether that means them paying for private tuition because they have failed to find a place, or whether that means paying for a taxi to take that child to school because there is not a suitable place near to the childs home. This would be my first call followed by a call to the local mp to ask for help. Also try ringing your citizens advice centre who will be able to guide you. Good luck!
