Hey everyone! I thought it would a neat idea to post recipes and ideas for making your own toys. I'll start things off with a super easy recipe for play dough...cheap, lasts a long time, is all natural for those kids who like to explore with their mouths, plus you can choose whatever colours you want! Use cookie cutters to make neat shapes, or try making endless imprints with toys and things you find around the house or yard. And of course, you can use your imagination to shape just about anything! It's fairly easy for older kids to help make and can provide hours of fun!
1 cup water
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
1/2 cup salt
1 tbsp. cream of tartar (helps play dough stay fresh up to 6 months)
1 cup flour
Combine water, oil, salt, cream of tartar and food colouring in small saucepan and heat until warm. Remove from heat and add flour. Stir, then knead until smooth. Store in an airtight container or Ziploc freezer bag.
