Do you play an instrument/sing? If so, which instrument or voice part?

oh I love to sing.. sad thing is I am awfully shy to do it around people who know me, lol
But no problem infront of total strangers... go figure!

I sing Soprano/Mezzo-Soprano, but I can do other ranges if the song requires it

as for an instrument.. I play Piano (by ear), bass clarinet/clarinet, and a little bit of guitar (tab and ear)

Josh Groban plays daily over here, lol, my baby should experience his greatness! ;)

I am a voice professor (lyric coloratura soprano) in Arkansas. I sang a faculty recital with cellist when I was 8 months pregnant. My 5-month-old son loves to listen to music- especially classical symphonic and piano music.

I play and teach clarinet and piano, and sing soprano. My 2 year old likes to just bash the piano at this stage, but LOVES to dance and sing almost the entire score of "The Sound of Music" or "My Fair Lady". The DVDs are getting worn out!

I am a pianist of 42 years and a first soprano. My father was a minister of music who taught my sister and I to play. My mother had a operatic voice but chose to use her beautiful instrument in church. I come from a Scots/Irish - father, Sicilian - mother, family where music was always playing or someone was playing an instrument or singing. My brother played the trombone, tuba, drums and guitar. He still plays the latter two. My sister, the flute and piano. I stayed mainly with piano though I played the guitar for awhile and want to learn the bagpipes. My son is a excellent drummer. Any drummer moms out there?

I sing, and I've tried a few instruments. I played the clarinet in my 6th grade band but I wasn't that into it. I picked up on the piano fairly quickly. I've been attempting the guitar but it's not really working out.

I sing, play guitar and write songs.
My husband plays amazing lead rock/blues guitar, and many other instruments.

My oldest daughter, Savannah (16), sings and plays guitar, dabbles around with her violin.
Madeline (13) Sings, writes songs, plays drums and is learning piano and guitar.
Jennifer (8) Sings, writes songs and plays amazing guitar. She is now learning the dums.
My youngest daughter is only 2 months old, her name is Harmony Lyric, and she is sure to be musical as well!

New to the community! I play flute, clarinets of all types, saxophones of all types, bassoon(current instrument), baritone, trombone. I also can sing alto and mezzo soprano. My boyfriend plays pretty much any instrument you put in front of him. knowing our luck, our daughter will have no musical skill. lol

I can sing three octaves (mostly second alto), and play 5 instruments: clarinet, bass clarinet, marching bass drum, piano, and some trombone. while I was pregnant for my son I used to "sit" him on my marching bass drum and play. As a result he was kicking to a beat when he was born. He is now 4 and loves music of all types. He breakdances and trys to sing. Hopefully I'll get him into music someday...

I love to sing, I used to sing Opera but now I sing in church and so it just depends on the song. I perfer alto which fits my voice better. I do not play any instuments at this time but my son has started guitar lessons about 6 weeks ago and his teacher is saying that he is a natural at it. So he can play and I can sing and we will make a good match one day hopefully.

I sing and play trumpet, flute, saxophone, euphonium, keyboard percussion, French Horn, piano, organ, and bass guitar.

I'm a soprano and play some piano. I sing with the VA symphony chorus, have worked in Japan singing and have sung with the Jacksonville symphony chorus. Of course I sing in church too.

I've played piano for 27 years, saxophone for at least 20, and have been singing for as long as I can remember. My voice range is Tenor to Soprano. I'm hoping my children take an interest in music. My son keeps asking when can he learn piano, and I say when he's 5 in August we can start. My daughter is just over a year old and will make singsong sounds when I'm singing.

Hi! I'm a professional Violinist and played and toured all over up until the end of my pregnancy. My son would react to different music that I would play! Now, he's 8 months and LOVES music. I take him to the school where I teach and he just plays and listens during the lessons. I'm not sure what he will want to play, but I'll be surprised if he won't want to play music someday!

I play every clarinett, the oboe, tenor and berry sax. Plus a little piano. It's great to see my oldest is playing the trumpet and piano.

I sing alto and sorpano. In high school my choir teacher would have me sing both parts because I could. My son is 10months old and he loves music. If he is upset or crying I put on some music and he tries to sing (at least he makes a lot of sounds and screams excitedly) My husband plays the guitar as well, so we are hoping us turning him on to music early will help him become a music fanatic when he is older.

I sing soprano in my church choir. I can also sing alto or tenor. I can play the piano, organ, and the tympanis (drums). My 2 year old son LOVES music. He hummed "Jesus Loves Me" at 9 months old. Before bedtime, he always requests his favorite songs to be sung. Sometimes he "sings" with me; sometimes he just listens. My husband also sings, plays the piano, and writes songs. I just love it that our son shares our love of music!

I'm a classically trained flutist. I've been playing for 25 years. I also have my degree in music education and music therapy. I apply all this knowledge with my toddlers. We have a blast playing music and musical games/instruments throughout the day!

Hi everyone,

I play piano and sing alto these days! My partner has been in bands for 20 years or more and plays any instrument he picks up.  A super talented man!  He was in 3 bands when I met him, but has cut back to 1, so we actually get see him!  There is nearly always something musical happening in our house.  I love it and couldn't have it any other way.  Music is good for the soul!  The kids have always resonded to music too.  My 1 year old just can't help but move when she hears music of any kind. She is one little groover!

Hi from Australia.....I sing and I am currently in rehersal for G@S Pirates of Penzance with Creswick am.theatre coy. My grandson James (I have full care of him) comes with me and responds well to all the singing.  I am a self-taught (really bad) keyboard player. Keyboard music is my stress relief and works miracles in that area.   I have a mandolin but haven't made much progress with that yet......and yes...I have a deep dark secret....I am a karaoke tragic...

I have played violin for about 25 years and I also sing soprano:) Our boys are pretty much stuck with music as my husband is also a musician. Number one son just turned 3 today and is looking forward (as far as we can tell) to starting violin this year. We shall see how that goes:) and no, mom is not teahing him. I learned from my mom that a parent should never be the primary teacher. As for the second son, he's too young to spectulate; however, I did play in orchestra while pregnant with him til about 30 weeks. All in due time.

Woo hoo for band geeks! I'm a band geek from way back!

Band geek: Yup! Sports band, Marching band, wind ensemble, concert band, concert choir, voice class, church choir, worship band, girls' choir, mens' choir, theater choir, percussion ensemble.... etc. I'm obsessed. lol

[deleted account]

I play sing mezzo soprano and alto, play clarinet(s), irish tin whistle, guitar, and used to play a bit of piano and percussion. I'm part of Treasure Valley Voices in Idaho and been in bands across the US, both secular and Christian worship bands. Once I got my guitar though, my desire changed. If I'm not singing to Jesus now, I'm not singing at all. I played my guitar and sang throughout my pregnancy and my son LOVES music as a result. :)

I play clarinet and when I sing I sing 2nd soprano. I'm in a music fraternity for women so music is my life. I love that my daughter is also into music at such a young age (14 months). She plays more with her music toys than any of her other toys.

[deleted account]

I don't play currently but I used to play Viola when I was in High School.

My fiance is a musician, he plays guitar & sings, his father plays harmonia & sings,  his grandfather played guitar & sang as well and my father plays bass...

Our son is ENTHRALLED with any kind of music. If it has a beat he'll start dancing and taping his leg to the beat. He also makes drum sticks out of anything that resembles them and drums on everything. He's also very inquisitive when Daddy starts playing guitar and it's hard for Chris to practice because Grayson is all over the acoustic
