My son is going to have this surgery next month. If your child has had this procedure, tell me your thoughts. What happened. What would you have done differently? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. ~Kris

My daughter had the heel cord surgery done in 2009. The surgery was about 1 hour. They put her cast on in the operating room. we where out of the hospital within 5 hours. I requested putting the IV in after they put her to sleep because that was the only thing she was scared of because she had them in the past, other wise they would have done it before. the gave her codin for pain but she only used it for the first 2 days. she was walking again within a week. They took the casts off 6 weeks later. it took her about 2-3 weeks to start walking again. It gave her alot more balance and no more pain in her ankle. Hope this helps abit.
