Hey everyone, I am feeling a bit discouraged today. My son who is 21 months old has been showing some signs that he is ready to begin potty training. He tells me almost every time when he goes poopie and he knows when he goes pee pee. A few times while playing in the bath tub he would lay on his back and say "mommy (or daddy) pee!" and he would start to pee. He can control the flow as he will start and stop the stream of pee. So 3 days ago we started asking him if has to go pee pee and he would respond excitedly "Please!"and run to the toilet and he would go pee! The first night he went 1x, second day he went 4 times. He tried to go poopies a couple of times but was only able to release gas. Today being the third day. Last night and today he would still run to the toilet but he seems to be very distracted. ie; wanting to stick his foot into the bowl, playing with the seat and toilet paper (a total opposite from yesterday). So we gave up and as we went to the other room to put on his diaper and he peed all over my carpet and laughed hysterically as he did so. I am afraid that things may have just went so well because it was new and fun for him. What can I do to keep him interested? Did I get my hopes up? Is it too early? Am I silly to feel a little discouraged? I do realize that potty training doesn’t just happen over night. Does anyone have any suggestions on potty training a little boy under the age of two?
