castile soap on baby?

[deleted account] ( 4 moms have responded )

Hey natural mamas, I just started using Whole Foods Sweet Almond castile soap on my family and its so great! But I don't know if its gentle enough to use on my new baby. Does anybody else use it? This brand uses no essential oils, just a combo of jojoba, olive, coconut, and almond oil. It would be great if I could just use one product for all our cleansing needs!

i dont use soap at all on my buba - its actually really unneccessary and strips away their natural skin oils - even the gentle kinds. instread I use almond oil - it clenses the skin and leaves it lovely and soft so no need for baby lotions etc (which often are full of chemicals anywasy)

my son has Eczema which is a intense type of dry skin and we use castile.. it's actually the baby "kind" and it works just fine. I always lotion and oil him up afterwards... my newborn (2 months) also gets it at bath time. I only oil him with coconut oil and it's great. I would not recommend baby oil tho, as it's JUST mineral oil which does not let the skin breathe. Not good for a young baby... not sure why they call it "baby" oil.

It is gentle enough to use, yes. However, it can be slightly drying, so make sure that you use baby oil, and don't soap your LO unless they actually do something to get dirty.

I use that stuff for almost EVERYTHING...
