How to increase your milk supply?

My 3rd daughter is 10 days old. I got milk on day 2 or 3, I had a great supply going and was pumping & nursing often.

Now all of the sudden the past 2 days I feel like I am deflated! I feel like I have no milk and the baby is not content! I am trying not to stress and drinking plenty of water.

Is this normal? Any tips or advice? With my first 2 daughters I never had days like these, my milk always seemed good & full so this is a new experience for me. And frustrating because she is only 10 days old.

Help?

Thanks everyone. I have been paying better attention to eating enough & drinking a TON of water. I need to remember to eat when I have a busy day with 3 kids under 5.

Drink lots of water and take 1 capsule of fennel seed every morning! You can buy fennel at a local drugstore or herbal supplement shop.

Ditto what Marie said- when you are breastfeeding you need an extra 600 calories and not just twinkies and ding dongs ;-) Is hubby or grandma around helping out- have them help you make sure you're eating enough!!
Good luck!

Have you been eating enough calories? Enough protein and enough carbohydrates? I found I lost my milk supply when I wasn't consuming enough. Also, avoid spearmint tea - it can actually cause your milk supply to reduce.

If you want to use herbals to help, look for mother's milk teas, fenugreek, brewer's yeast, and eat oatmeal.
