I have just started in a business that orginially started in the States and has been in Australia for only the last couple of years. It has taken off with a bang, and many Australians are extremely successful in this business. It drives me nutty that people's first reaction is "oh it is just a get rich quick scheme". They just let that rip without even spending five minutes even researching into it, or asking questions. I would never annoy or persist with people that obviously aren't interested, as I can't stand pushy people myself. I understand that there are some dodgy companies out there, and people have been burnt in the past. But surely everyone isn't so negative or defensive about new business opportunities?

You ever hear: "Condemnation before investigation is the height of stupidity". I think that is what it is. A lot of persons put down Network Marketing, even your friends and family will tell you its just a sign up game.
I was searching for something that could help me to achieve my goals and dreams, and what I found was a Network Marketing company, didnt know much at the time but loved what I saw.
You get to meet so many different persons, I've met multi millionaires in my company; I've met the owner and founder, right now I'm actually being coached by our #1 income earner.
I mean the more persons that I help to win the more money I make, how cool is that. I have to train every new person at my job and my salary does not change.
I look forward to all the events, parties and meetings, right now our team is on a COUNTDOWN TO 2010 SUCCESS as our Convention is in January, and I just cant wait.
Even more rewarding is that my son loves, loves the products.

A few months ago I joined the MLM directory's #1 home business opportunity, and it is a fantastic company. Highest comp plan, and amazing, enviro-friendly products. We just had a party for about 20 friends and it was great! I had a couple hours of "mommy time" away from home, drank a couple glasses of wine with the girls, and we talked about how to become more healthy! How can that be bad??

I think networking a great way to find customers for your business. It's kind of like asking for referrals. Companies and businesses do it all the time. I think when people hear that, they automatically are thinking Multi - level Marketing which has a bad reputation because many people have failed, gotten hurt and lost money. I personally have never been a part of an MLM and never will. But I do network for my business and it's a great way to find customers!

I agree that MLM does get a bad rep but I think if you know yourself well enough and find the right opportunity you can do really well. I have done three different types of direct sales and have finally found the right opportunity and product! Give it a chance and listen to your heart. I kind of think it is funny too that people are so down on Multi-Level Marketing...after all, if you work at a store, your manager may make a bonus based on how good his/her workers are doing, and in turn, their divisional supervisor gets a bonus, etc...isn't that the same thing?

unfortunately, there are some bad businesses out there and some people have been hurt. People have heard about the negative and something I like to remember is this saying: "people are down on what they are not up on". most people are just used to and comfortable with earning a living working 9-5 and punching a time clock. they don't believe there could be something different that actually better and legit.
Just keep pluggin' away, and don't get down by those comments. just move on to the next.

I totally agree! Network Marketing is the new wave of how to promote a companies product or service. It helps the company reduce their cost of marketing because they rely on their independent contractors to advertise and get the word out. It is a win-win situation. The company saves money and the people get to earn money! I love network marketing, it is so much fun and you get to meet so many people. I have been building my business in network marketing for over two years and I can't imagine doing anything else. I think most people just don't take the time to educate themselves and so that is why they end up making judgements before they have all the facts.
We just have to stay foucsed on what we have to offer and find those people who are interested in building an income from home and focus on helping them!

I have to agree, there is a definite negative sling on network or multi-level marketing. I have a business that is multi-level and think it works great. People often tell me they are a pyramid scheme. I think they need to go back to school and look up what that phrase means.
Of course, people are also against parties a lot of the time, and I personally like them - it gets me out of the house without the kido...
