Hi guys

I'll be moving to fanwood this Friday and I will need all the information I can get. I have a almost 5 yr old and I'm looking for a childcare care center and a good pediatrician. And does anyone know what there is to do in Fanwood? Anything exciting? Thanks and I would appreciate any recommendation. : )

We meet again! We take our kids to the doctor in Westfield. Drs. Robert Panza and Jane Presti, on Westfield Avenue. There both very good docs, but Presti is a little more, well, warm, than Panza, but my kids like both. They have emergency hours weekday mornings from 8:30 to 9:15, when you can get it without appointments, and you can get appts on Saturday, and emergency visits on Sundays too.

There's tons of childcare around--it all depends on what you're looking for. If you like a casual atmosphere, but with good teachers, I can recommend Cradles to Crayons, also in Westfield, on Central Avenue. Both my kids went there--my younger son is graduating pre-K in June. They also have a full-day kindergarten (SP-Fanwood is only half-day). Noah's Ark is good if want really scheduled learning--it's very regimented though, and we didn't want our kids to have that kind of a schedule so young--they're going to get it at public school later. Cradles has an outdoor playground, they go on trips about 3 or 4 times a year (circus, aquarium, Halloween hayrides, etc) and during the summer they have water play in the backyard. How We Grow, also on Central Avenue is also nice. There's tons of good daycare--just stay away from the chains like KinderCare.

There's not much excitement in Fanwood, sorry. The Tavern in Scotch Plains is nice though, on Park Ave. There's also a new bar place on Park, but I can't remember the name. If you're into outdoor stuff, we're right across Rte 22 from the Watchung Reservation, which has fun things to do and an awesome playground.

Let me know if you want to know anything else.
