My husband may be getting a new job that is leaving us with hours when we are both at work. I have been very hesitant about trusting others to watch my child, and I need some advice on places to look and what to look for while I search for a babysitter or a daycare. My son is only 9 months old. I am in Downtown Jersey City, if anyone has suggestions. Please help!

You could look in the classified section of your newspaper. Ladies are always puttin ads in there looking for work in a home as a nanny, and some nanny services also list themselves in there, and thats the best bet, using a nanny service in your area. At least these women are working for a business and are pre-screened and what not..Or, you could put an ad in the paper yourself requesting a nanny.

Thank you. This was my gut instinct, so I am looking for someone I can afford and trust, but I am not sure how to start looking.

Being completely honest about daycare, you really never know how your kid is gonna be cared for. More then the place, it depends on the people working there, and if they r there because they love kids, or just to make money..I worked in 4 seperate day care centers before i had my daughter, and all were questionable..First off daycares do tough love, all of them..meaning when babies cry, we dont pick them up ever, they cry it out in cribs or baby seats, because they cant be being spoiled or handl;ed to much with all the other kids to be cared for..so furber method is in all of them..and ive seen ldies pull kids around by arms and dragged, put in corners to sleep when they misbehave, screamed at...i honestly from my experience, would never ever put my kids in daycare...getting someone at your home, one on one, or, finding someone who does home day care with a few kids is a MUCH better option.
