My son just turned 9 months old and I would really like for him to interact with other babies around his age in our area...does anyone know of any playgroups or secret societies of moms with infants in the Lower East Side...lol...I would take him to the local parks but older children at parks can play too rough at times and I'm afraid he'd get hurt in the mix...Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you :)

Meet up.com. Check it out. You can do a search for "Playgroups Lower East Side" and you should be able to find a group of moms who have kids in the same age group. They have play groups everywhere.
I may be looking myself...my husbands job may cause us to have to move up there.
Would love to live in the city if we did have to relocate but from what I've heard it's very expensive. Has anyone found any shorcuts around the sky high rents in and around the city? I would love to experience city living but it seems so unattainable.
