What to do with toddler in the winter

how about the new york library most for them have toddlers time where they can play and meet other children and parent can talk and it free.

Yes, we loved going to the Aquarium, Bronx Zoo and Botanical Gardens in the last summer and fall, and i'm sure that these places are open during the winter, but they just don't seem to be as fun.  I can't wait until Rye Playland season begins.  What a great time on the boat ride we had last summer and the rides in kiddie park  and the fireworks and the shows and the carousel and the lovely weather......Boy, i can't wait until this winter season makes an exit stage right.

What do you think about taking a toddler ice skating?  I know Prospect Park has a rink, does Central Park still have Wollman rink?

The library.The prospect park zoo, The intrpided ,the cloister , Moma ,childrens musem in nyc. Barnes & Noble  children section you can stay as long asyou and read to your chil. Look on nyc parks they have events listed.

I highly recommend the City Museum of New York on in the 100s and Fifth Avenue. They have permanent collections for children including antique dolls and a real old fashion fire engine kids can play on!

There are some great indoor playgrounds, also, but they require membership.  Worth the expense for indoor, winter activities, though!  Try www.timeoutkids.com.

I did this when my son was 2 and was running out of ideas.  I took him on a train ride to Long Island and back.  I packed a little cooler, some books, etc and we had a blast just riding the train for an hour or two.  He loved looking out of the windows at all the different places their were to see :)

Check out Mommy Poppins.com - for ideas.  She has a great daily blog you can subscribe to and is always full of free and cheap things to do with kids in NYC.  She is really funny too.

we like the public library, and the transit museum. My 3 year old adores trains.

we also like to just people-watch at grand central, and the ceiling is always fascinating for him

we also do the NY Aquarium. not everything is indoors, but the various buildings are close enough that we are willing to run from one building to the other.

I remember with our kids, we took them to movement classes at the Y--but that was a number of years ago. You may also want to check out the public library. Another place that our son loved was the metropolitan museum--especially during the week. Not many people there and he was able to walk about and explore.
