My 8-month-old has never been a great sleeper, but for the last week or two, we've been having an exceptionally hard time with him. He used to either fall asleep nursing or being rocked for naps and at night, and when he wakes up to eat at night, he nurses back to sleep. Now he still nurses back to sleep in the middle of the night, but he never falls asleep nursing anymore, and when we try to rock him, he screams and flails. Most of the time, he screams for a few minutes and then goes to sleep, but last night I rocked him for 45 minutes while he was screaming. We're not sure what's changed. We can't tell if he doesn't want to go to sleep, if he wants to be put to sleep a different way, or if there's something else wrong. We would appreciate any ideas and advice. We hate that he's crying, even when we're rocking him, but we're lost for what to do.
