How many hours a night does your 5 year old sleep?

I think I'm expecting my 5 year old to sleep more than she needs to. I put her to bed at the same time as my 2 year old, about 8:30. I don't think she goes to sleep till about 9:30 and then she is always awake before us. I'm not sure what time, but I'm thinking she wakes up about 8-8:30. I guess I should let her stay up later, but I selfishly want my alone time at night.

That sounds about like our routine too, all my kids, 2, 4 ½, 5 ½, are in bed by 8, asleep by 8:30, and up in the morning at 7ish. They also take a 1½ to 2 hr nap in the afternoon, with any less sleep, watch out for grumpy kiddos!

I follow a similar routine. I have a 4 and 5 year old who take showers around 7 and then get to watch a cartoon before going upstairs to lay down. By having them upstairs by 745 or 8 they fall asleep by830. And my oldest wakes up on his own about 730 for school, since it him time to wake up before rushing out the door.

5-6 year old need 10-12 hrs of sleep. My daughter(5 1/2) has to be in school by 830am so we wake her up at am. If she goes to bed later than 830pm she is a grumpy bear. Our bed time routine start at 730-745pm and she's usually asleep by 830.

By the way it's not selfish to want alone time. I love my girls and love being with them, but at the end of the day it's nice to have a bit of alone time. It helps me recharge and feel a little less stress.
