Yes that is normal. She is definitely not underweight. My son Jaylen, at age 3, was 33 lbs and the doctor said he was very healthy for his age. He wasn't over or underweight. He was 33lbs for a long time and is 4 years old and just began to gain a little extra weight. Ive noticed by lifting him that he was heavier.

She will be okay, especially if shes a good eater.

My son is about to turn 4, and he is not even 30lbs yet. It has a lot to do with genes though. Underweight is a pretty loose term. You have to realize that those "percentiles" are based on MOST kids, and what the average is. I don't know if you've noticed, but these days, MOST kids, or OVER weight, so being below those kids isn't neccessarily a bad thing. Everytime I take my son for a check up, they tell me he's under height, and underweight. To which I say, "well, I'm only 5ft tall, so I hardly expect him to be tall. And as far as the underweight thing, well, he eats constantly, but he also spend the whole day running all over everywhere, so why would gain a lot of weight??" Every kid is different because we all have different genes. My kid may be a bit small, but the fact of the matter is, he's perfectly healthy. There's nothing wrong, he's just small. Some of us are! That's just life, lol. As long as your daughter is in good health, there is nothing wrong with her weight!

Yes - normal. As long as she eats and goes potty regularly - she is fine. My son was the same way - he's turning 4 next week and just now weighs 35. Tall and lean.

I wouldn't worry about her. My daughter just turned 4 and weighs 24lbs, which is underweight. She has been her whole life, and despite our best efforts, we haven't been able to fatten her up in 4 years. She's healthy and active (reached physical milestones on time or early) and mentally advanced.

I have ALWAYS been concerned about my daughters weight. It doesn't help that she is a HORRIBLE eater!! By far the absolute pickiest child i have ever seen!. She is very tall for her age and tiny. She is barely 30lbs and just hit that mark in the past month. Her pediatrician keeps assuring me that as long as she is gaining weight and growing that she is fine and not to worry unless she looses weight. So i am sure your little one is fine! If it worries you too much, talk with her PCP.

btw our pediatrician told me it is more important they are following their own growth curve...so look back over her prior dr visits and check at the doctor for any changes in her growth pattern

Typically you the doctors charts go by age about 10 lbs per year. So a 3 year old should be in the 30 to 40 lbs range. Her height, birth weight, and even genetics can make a difference. My son is 9 and barely weighs 50 lbs, my 5 year old weighs almost 45 and my 3 year old weighs almost 40, the doctor says they are all healthy and fine so more than likely you really have nothing to worry about.

So long as she eats regular healthy foods and she is growing I wouldn't worry too much about her weight. My 5 1/2 yr old weighs 15kg but her 3yr old brother weighs 18kg. They both eat well and are happy, active and healthy kids.
