Hi everyone,

Welcome to the November 2005 Toddlers community, where we chat about our November 2005 children and whatever else is on our minds!

To get things started, I thought it would be nice if we all introduced ourselves in this thread, which will be pinned to the community home page. Whether you're a Circle of Moms veteran or you're new to the site, let us know who you are, what you’re interested in, and what your lovely November 2005 child is up to right now, developmentally speaking!

Hi, my name is Natasha, mother to Nkosi who was born on november 21st, 2005. Nkosi has just started his 2nd year of Primary School. I think in my country (Trinidad), the education system is different to that of the US.

Nkosi started Kindergarten at age 3. My mother was his teacher actually :). He is excellent at reading and spelling - I thought him Phonics when he was 4 and he really took to sounding out words and spelling them. He's off the Ladybird books now (Hansel and Gretel etc..) and I just started him on Enid Blyton's books. I would read to him a story each night, (he can't sleep without it - so he says:), however when he wants to watch tv or play video games, he would read a story first (house rule), and he would choose one that I would have read to him previously. (No more Ladybirds - they're too easy!) His Dad or I would help him with the unfamiliar words and would explain the meaning of the words he don't already know. I would also ask him questions on the story afterwards, to make sure he understands what was read to him. In addition to video games, the tele and reading, he loves playing basketball and football with his Dad and riding his bicycle with the other kids on the street, putting together puzzles, lego sets etc

I don't let him watch any and everything though - PBS Kids and Discovery Channel, and he likes Scooby Doo and some others on Cartoon Network. He also likes the "grown up" movies like Transformers, Spiderman etc, which is harmless enough. I'm extremely proud of him.... He's also a great "big brother" to his sister Abby who is 7 months old :). Wish I was a SAHM!!

Hello my name is Maya, I'm 26, working single mother of Anya-Rae age 5 born November 2005. She's in school, is a complete over achiever and drama queen....We have been on our own since she was born and have a strong bond....although she thinks she is the boss! I am a charity fund-raiser for a few small charities and only work while she is in school. It works well for us. I have just found out that she may have the same genetic hearing defect as me...I am not surprised....I often get told she talks 'loudly'!
Anya has 2 gold fish (rufus and kelly) and a HUGE lop rabbit called Roger!

Hi!
My name is Tina and I live in Athens, Greece.
I am married to George who is a Navy officer and after a long battle with infertility we had our twin boys born on the 14th November 2005 and they were a little early. John was 4lbs and an IUGR survivor and Cody was 6lbs 3oz.

They are in mainstream Kindergarten now but we are still dealing with a few issues from the high risk pregnancy and prematurity. It makes our lives...ehm...interesting!! lol :)

I work in the field of arts. I have been sculpting for a long time and I am fairly well known in my field for that but recent I started turning my hobby, photography, into a business as well. You can see photos of my little ones here:
http://smilepleasephotography.blogspot.c...
and my work (and also some insight in my life here:)
http://sculptorsdiaries.blogspot.com

The boys are into everything these days! Cody is a whiz at computer games. We've gotten them a Wii a couple years ago in hopes to help John with his mobility issues (mild CP) and this Christmas we got them a Kinect which as you know is not a static game as we do not want them sitting on the couch not moving, playing video games all day.
We are also part of a swim team for kids and we do 3 hrs a week. We love going to the Zoo, the beach, Playmobil Funpark is also a favorite and now the weather is getting better, the playground and park will be a daily event after school!!

The boys' favorite friend is John's service/assistance dog, a Black Lab named Pandora and she too is looking forward to outtings in the park after a winter full of cold and rain!! lol

I am looking forward to meeting you all!!
Best regards,
Tina from Greece

Hi i'm Tonya from Illinois. I have one daughter, Ava who is 4 1/2. My son Logan was stillborn in January of this year at 22 weeks. We are considering trying again here in the near future. Ava attended pre-K last year but due to the horrible state of the Ilinois budget there have been cuts to the Pre-K program in our public school and we are still awaiting to see if she will get to go this year. I hate that she might have to skip a year before entering kindergarten. Ava is a very happy child and is quite a talker. She loves PINK and is quite a princess herself. She hates bugs but we are working on that! LOL She has become quite the little fish in the pool this year so we are excited about that. Last year was a whole different story. She has started to be a lot more brave this summer. She can't live without her cartoons!

hello. My name is Jessica and my son Christian was born November 10, 2005. His original due date was December 24th. I was induced due to complications. He did not require any additional medical help, thank God! He was very small though 5 lbs 18 and 3/4 inches long. He looked like a doll. He is now so tall and very smart. He still have issues with going to the restroom. Im my opinion he is lazy, if he is playing hard he will not stop and use the restroom, sometimes he will go in his pants. That is our biggest issue with him. Most people including Drs, say that he shouldnt like the wet feeling, but he doesnt care. That puzzles me to this day, but Kindergarden starts in August, he needs to be fully potty trained by then. But at the same time we dont want to pressure him so much that he ends up not progressing. Fine line we are having to walk. :)
