Potty Training

I also have a 3 year old and we had a lot of trouble potty training...He was in daycare at the beginning of his training and when I took him out he went backwards. I tried everything just as you did. One day it just stuck and I think it was because I quit asking him as much and let him have control over the training.I'm not sure if this was the right thing to do or not.. I would reward him in big ways when he would go and when he had a accident I would calmly change him and explain to him that BIG boys don't wet their underwear. The more i did this ..the more he felt independent and he stopped having accidents.. Oh one more thing...I bought some fun underwear with his favorite superhero on them and let him brag to his daddy about them..He was proud everytime he got to wear them so you might try that...Good Luck..It can get so frustrating...especially in the car or at the grocery store...

My chidren were trained at 21 and 22 mnths. I guess I just got a lucky break and had it pretty easy altho it was pretty frustrating when they were in training lol

My daughter turned 3 Nov 12th.  She was doing ok with the potty . Not asking, but going occassionally.  Then our second daughter was born on Nov. 17th.  Well bye bye using the potty at all.  for the past few weeks she is finally wearing underware and telling us when she has to go.  There are still the occassional accidents.  I thought that we would never get to this point.  It's frustrating to hear about kids that are trained at 2 when my three year old didn't even seem close.  It will happen though.  It is finally happening for us.  Don't lose hope.

 yes i know what that like, my son turns 4 on the 1 nov and he wont use the potty either. We got him a potty that makes flushing noises and everthing, but he keeps saying he doesn't want to sit on the potty. He starts kindy nxt year, so im hoping my son will be potty trained by then. Its very frustrating. I even brought those pull-ups that makes the child feel the wetness, but he doesn't like to wear those.

With both of my children we pushed the potty training. We even did what I called naked day where we put the potty chair in the living room and let them run around litteraly naked so they had nothing to pee there pants in. Those days were a great success. We then just backed off because I was sick of pushing and trying and both of them just one day decided to use the potty on thier own and have been successful ever since. Don't worry eventually your son will just decide he is ready and will just do it.

By this time he should know how to wait to use the bathroom.  There was a time when I had to put a plastic diaper on him with underwear and let him go in his pants. I did not change him right away.  He really felt what it was like to be wet.   When he started preschool he didn't want to be the only child in pull ups so he quickly learned to use the potty.   When we first started the potty we did a "pee, pee, in the potty" dance.  It takes time and is quite frustrating sometimes. Don't worry.  He will eventually become a "big boy" and use the potty.

My son turned 3 on Nov. 30 and we are in the same boat.  We usually try and sit him on the toilet (on a character seat that he picked out) and read a book until he goes, but most of the time he never does.  And he is very proud when he does go in the toilet, but it doesn't bother him at all to just go in his diaper.  At the advice from others, we have stopped trying to push it for a month or so and we will go back to it later.

There is a product called Peter Potty, its a training urinal.  I have a friend who had it at a party and the boys there just knew to pee in it when they saw it.  Of course after they did, they announced it to everyone LOL!  It is also portable so you can put it in their room too so they don't wet the bed at night.  And its only like 40 bucks-ish.  It has had great reviews for potty training boys, it actually flushes so boys find it super fun!!   You don't even have to hook it up to plumbing either.  .

We are having the same problem.  My son pees on the potty only when he wants to do so and nothing is working.  Some days are great, but other days he just won't go.  He even asks if he has to wear big boy underwear.

Hi my son turned 3 Nov. 22 and we are having the same problem, We even got the potty chair that sings and nothing seems to work.
