I agree that they have to be ready. I to took my 3yr old to the potty with me everytime I went. I asked her is she wanted to potty too. She started on her elmo potty and moved to the big potty. I did reward 1st for going, started with Praise (clapping, telling her "Your are such a good girl" and we finally made up a potty rap and dance!) She was making it through the night with a dry pull up for several weeks but everynow and then she would pee her panties during the day because she was too busy playing. I knew she was too smart when she hid them behind the toilet (the wet clothes) and put new clothes on herself. I started making her put the wet clothes on and sat her in the time out chair in the wet clothes for 10 minutes (I used a card table chair so it was easy to clean). After about 4 times of the time outs in wet panties and telling her that the potty was better and she can't go to preschool unless she doesn't have accidents she was fully potty trained! She is 3yrs 4months and she has been in princess panties for over a month now with no accidents. Good luck, every child is different so it's good you are getting lots of methods!

We tried stickers and a money jar, nothing seemed to help...
Then one day about a month ago she told me she wasn't going to wear pullups anymore and she's been dry ever since!!
They'll start when they're really ready!

We used a potty chart and bought stickers. When he went pee pee he got a little sticker, he kept accumulating until he reached 15 then he received a hot wheel car. And we had actually taped the car next to the potty chart to make him want it! With poo poo he received a big sticker and after 15 times we went to Chuck E. Cheese. He was able to conquer peeing alot faster than going #2. But after the 15 times pooing he was potty trained! We also, have a 6 month old so when he would poo or pee in his pants we would take away something "big boy" i.e. video games, flash lights, baseball..something that babies couldn't play with and explained that if he pooed and peed in his pants like a baby he could only play with baby things until he would potty again and we would give it back. Worked for us! Wish you the best of luck..it can be very challenging!

you have a little girl? my method was that i bought her two types of panties; the hideous, thick, frumpy training panties and the pretty, soft, comfy panties. whenever she actually went on the potty, i let her wear the comfy ones. if she had an accident, she'd have to wear the frumpy ones. when she first got up n the morning i made sure she got on the potty immediately and before she went to bed. also check with her after she eats or drinks. and it didn't hurt to reward her for success with her favorite thing. whether thats a sweet treat, a toy, or her favorite book/movie...be patient and try not to scold her for accidents too harshly, learning to potty train should be something she's proud of even if she fails sometimes.

Mine is 3years 3 months and from January I started potty training: We bought the potty months before and she used it as a toy. Its was a struggle getting her to just sit on the potty. In Jan. I was on leave for two weeks. When I went to the toilet I took her along. She sat on hers and I on mine. Each time I needed the loo I took her along, also asking her often if she needs to go. It wasn't long before she started telling me she needed to use the loo, peepy pee and #2 . In two weeks she was going to the loo on her own even at nite.
