I know this was started last year but you seem to be still interested so thought I would add ours.
I am from Australia (Windsor NSW) so its hot here.
I have a 7yr old boy and a 3yr old girl last year we started some new traditions we are going to keep on with this year the kids and I go to my mother-in-laws for afternoon tea with her and my sister in laws family they have a little 2yr old (if its hot) the kids play on the slip and slide while the adults have cheese platter then they all come to our house for dinner (my husband is home from work by then) and to sleep here so the kids can all wake up together xmas morning open presents and have breakfast.
I have a tree ornament for everyone in the family with their names on them.
We put up our tree as a family at the end of Nov and play xmas songs.
Xmas eve we leave out milk and biscuits for santa on his own plate and cup and a carrot for the raindeer.
We also have a santa key which is great as my son asked how santa gets in as we have no chimmney and we lock the doors so he leaves the key hanging on the inside of the door as santa is magic and can magic it outside when he gets here LOL
The kids have special santa sacks that their Nan made for them with their names on them Santa always leaves his special presents in them.
Cant wait for another xmas to be here so exciting HAPPY HOLIDAYS :0)

Hi Michelle ....this is fantastic!! it sounds so lovely to hear how you can enjoy Christmas as a family. You know I loved the part for your little baby as it was also exiting for our 2 year old although he followed all that his big sister(5) was saying it was fun to see him anticipating for the big day as he didn't really understand what it meant...but unfortunately on christmas day (night) he fell ill and we had some sleepless nights after that...thankfully he is all bright and cheerful.
Michelle your and your husband are an inspiration!! I wonder how many people would decide not to share presents because they just couldn't afford and not rely on credit cards!! well done you both!! I'm delighted for you both and your contract in the summer.

Happy new year and thanks you for taking the time to write...would you mind if I publish this on my website?

Best wishes

susan

Hi, we go to my husband's best friends parents (its a long story that has turned into a tradition) for dinner then head home to put Emily to bed, prepare the veggies and put the presents under the tree and in the santa sacks. Christmas moring we open our santa sacks together in bed then have breakfast and open presents to each other and any from those that cant join us then the in laws arrive and we open their presents (while cooking dinner) they stay for dinner and overlap with my family mid afternoon for another round of presents and then they stay for tea. It is tradition that everyone congregates at the house with the youngest child and that is us for now. We like to spreda the excitement through the day.

hi susan what a nice idea to ask everyone! My name is Michelle and I am from Sycamore, Illinois. I have two very dramatic girls, Lilly is 5 and Evy is 19 months. Our christmas tradition is propbably pretty normal (but i like your idea and no one else seems in the spirit so I'll tell you), on Christmas Eve we head over to my inlaws hose for dinner and presents, then we all get into our Christmas jammies and we watch movies and play games and just relax before the craziness of Christmas day. Then we go home and put the girls to bed (bc they are usually out cold by the time we get out of the driveway). My husband, Kevin, and I stay up and watch a movie till we ensure the kids are asleep and we put out all the presents take a bitre of the cookie and a sip of the milk, sprinkle some glitter around the snow outside (that is what helps the reindeer fly didnt you know) and then get into bed usually around midnight or so. the kids as you know wake up early (I always put a gate infront of the hall way to the bedrooms so the kids cant go out there without us) come in and wake us up. They stay in bed w kevin while i go start the fire and christmas music and open the gate and then its a free for all i used to try to regulate it but i gave up on that! i am really excited about this year though bc Lilly really gets it this year and Evy is actually up and walking and talking so she will have fun this year. plus this is the first year my husband and I will be exchanging christmas present! He has his own construction company framing custom homes and there is just no work so we would make sure the kids have a good christmas and we wouldnt have the money for eachother but luckily this year he had a big job over the summer and we were able to put some money away for eachother so i am really excited........I LOVE PRESENTS! Id love to hear other peoples stories too! Take care all of you and Iwish you a very merry christmas. I hope you have a wonderful holiday in whatever you do!
