I think my 2 year old may have asthma...she coughs a lot with activity and also at night but doesn't have a cold. She sometimes coughs until she throws up. Any advice? I know we need to see her pediatrician.

my 12 yr old has asthma and I found out when she was a few months old. She had bubbley sounds in her chest and gasp a lot. coughing while activities and at night are a sign of asthma. She stoped having attacks when she was around 4 yrs old but sense she started puberty it has came back just not as bad.

I have a son that has the same symptoms our doctor kept saying that he had a cold but the symptoms were not that of a cold. There are several different types of asthma and one of them is coughing asthma. My suggestion to you is to go to webmd.com and look up asthma it helped me diagnose my son. And thank god because a few months later he had a severe asthma attack.

So she was diagnosed today with reactive airway disease. The doctor gave us flovent to do twice a day until the cough has been gone for a week then cut down to once a day until April, then we can try taking her off it for spring and summer and see how she does. The doctor says she may only need the inhalers during cold and flu season but that if she continues to cough during spring and summer it may be more of a true asthma. Then she gave us an albuterol inhaler to use as needed with coughing.

Tamara, I've only noticed her coughing with increased activity. I talked to her pediatrician and she agrees that it could be exercise induced asthma so we made an appointment for this Friday. We'll see what happens...

My son has it, but only with a cold. I am also asthmatic. Does she only cough, or do you also notice wheezing? I would have her checked if you are worried

My brother had asthma while he was growing up. He had it really bad as a child and kept going into hospital because of asthma attacks, he also had eczema with it so take it he never got much sleep at night. You can get plugs which neutralise the air but my brother said it made him feel worse so he doesn't use them anymore. Hes 24 now and training to be a wrestler when hes not at work. Get your 2 yr old seen to as soon as possible, she may need an inhaler.

my 6 yr old has asthma and has done for quite a while now. We put a damp towel on a hot radiator to moisten the room at night to help her breathing. xx

My daughter is 2 and she has asthma. We noticed when she was 3 1/2 months old that she was having trouble catching her breath but her doctor told us it was normal well then at her 12 month check-up he finally said she had it.She does cough a lot so we have to do breathing treatments. But I would as her doctor to make sure so you can help her and maybe she can outgrow it if she does have it.
