Has anyone needed to get their son recircumcised? We knew it was something we might have to consider from when he was born because he had alot of extra skin. So when we got it done the first time they confirmed that they couldn't get all the skin through but we'd have to wait til he's almost 2 to make our decision on redoing it. So I was wondering if anyone else has gone through this.

Please...no comments from people that don't believe in circumcisions. Thank you.

My twins both had to be circumcised 2x. They were 6 weeks early and didn't get circ'd until they were 6mths old the 1st time. A month before they turned 3, a urologist redone them. They had a LOT of skin adhesions around the penis, which were very painful to the boys. They done really well afterwards though, and it didn't affect potty training at all. I'm very glad we had it done a 2nd time. No regrets.

Ladies what does the extra skin look like? I can't tell if my son has this or not. Is he partially circ'ed or will he grow into it? its always on my mind!!

My son is two and we just had a consultation with our pediatrician about having a second circumcision. He felt that as long as my son wasn't suffering infections under the excess skin, and he wasn't in pain when he peed or had "baby erections," then there was no need to rush things. My son has the extra skin, but parts of it are beginning to re-fuse to the head of his penis. Our doctor felt that the extra skin would be primarily up to us, and later up to Dylan, whether he wanted that removed or not, but that the re-fusing of the skin would likely need minor surgery to correct. He told us that 8-10 would be an ideal age in his opinion, given that no complications occurred before then, because by that age, (if i understood/remember correctly) the skin would no longer regenerate, so we wouldn't risk having to have it done a third time. HE also asked us to consider, though, that if we have it done now, there will be no embarrassment issues to deal with, plus the risk of injury or infection would be lower since I still bathe him and his pull-ups provide more protection than underwear would, and he would heal faster now than an older boy would.

I know our situations are a little different, but I feel the main points are the same. We haven't decided what to do yet, but I hope those thoughts help you out a little!
