Going through a defiant stage

Help!! My once well behaved 17 month old now objects to anything where he has to be immobile. Changing a diaper/getting dressed takes forever, washing his face is impossible and brushing his teeth......a nightmare! He used to come at me with his mouth open when he saw the toothbrush, now he runs away! I have been told by others that this is a stage he is going through. Anyone else experiencing/experienced this?

Oh my! I am there with ya, sisters. My son has been throwing temper tantrums since 8 months old. This evening my husband and I both had to hold him down to brush his teeth - he is so strong. We ignore some temper tantrums, and have incorporated time outs for the more serious offenses such as hitting or throwing. I'm currently reading Happiest Toddler on the Block and it is a huge help with communicating on their level.

You just described my Sarah, she is awful when it comes to brushing her teeth. I dread it every morning and night. And diaper changes. I know my older daughter went through this....it's a tough stage

lol looks like I'm not the only one. my daughters response to everything is no no no. I'm trying on the potty training cause she never wants to sit still for a diaper change she use to just sit in the cart for me at the store or walk right beside me. now she wants out out out of the cart she says and just wants to run rampid through the store...its a mess lol. I have no idea how to go about correcting it, I guess just patience and not giving in the their every ridiculous want and "need" and soon enough they will get through it.....hopefully.
