Is your toddler still having nap time?

Sounds familiar. Our son does not go to bed until 9 pm, so we started doing away with naps -- it should work, cause he hates sleeping, and it's also a struggle to make him take a nap -- then he has his meltdown and crashes around 6 pm. So we feel bad as parents and give it up, but then he doesn't go to bed until 10 pm or even 11 pm cause he'd crash at 6 pm, but wake up at 8 or 9 pm. We're still working on it ... the times when it went well for us was when we just let him sit on the couch and watch TV, not take him out to for any physical outdoor activity like the playground or pool, and that's not right for him either. He does well with routine, so we just need to find one that he can do without nap, but still allow him some stimulating physical activities. Good luck to you, too!

My little guy stopped napping regularly shortly after 18 months. I know when he is going through a growth spurt because he will eat like every meal is his last and when he's not eating, hes sleeping. The only other time he naps at home is when he's sick.

My son still naps and goes to bed at eight thirty if he does not nap or his nap gets cut short he gets so cranky. There are days when he does not nap but if I dont go lay him down he will usually fall asleep where he is.

my daughter stopped napping at 18 months. she had no interest in naps at all after that point. I quickly learned that she slept a lot better at night without the naps anyway. It's all in keeping them busy and occupied (burning their energy all day) then by 6-7pm they are ready for sleep and sleep sooo good!! :)

my son just turned 3 and if he doesnt get a nap he is nothing but crabby from 3:00 til bed time ...i strongly suggest naptime you will see a great improvment in your childs behavior!

haha my little guy gets miserable in the evening without a nap. hes a super good sleeper. he will sleep in the afternoon for 2-3 hours, and then hes sleeping again 830-8. how high is your little ones activity level? we live on a farm, so he is outside almost all the time, except maybe a half hour of tv time that he just lays on the floor

my nov 14 little man still has a nap normally for about an hour .. if he doesnt have a nap it is like walking on egg shells around him he is the most grumpiest child and tantrums gallore .. but then somedays hes playing and doesnt have a nap and hes fine and happy playing lets just say he has his good days and his bad days but not matter if he has a nap or not hes always in bed by 8

Maybe once a week but sometimes not even that. We found that if she napped that she would end up not being tired until 9:00 or later so we are not pushing for her to nap.

Yes my son is going on 3 in november 22nd and when he comes home from school he takes a nap.

My son lays down everyday around 1:30. Sometimes he sleeps for 2 hours and sometimes 3. I have noticed his naps have shortened. My first child napped until she went to Kindergarden.

My little guy stopped taking regular naps shortly after he turned 1. If we are in the car for more than an hour, he usually conks out or will nap if we have an eventful day. The only other time he naps is during growth spurts. I like when he takes short naps because it causes him to go to bed later. When he goes to bed later, he gets up in the morning later and that lets my husband and I give our undivided attention to our 5 year old while we get her off to school for the day.

My Son Is Almost 3 & He Usually Still Takes Naps. If He Doesn't, He Tends To Get Crabby By 6pm & Then He Gets So Over Tired That He Has Accidents At Night. But Every Child Is Different.

My almost 3yr old & 4 yr old still nap about 2 hrs every day even weekends when we donl 't have plans...I'm very thankful they still nap because they get very grumpy when they are tired :-)

my little girl is like that she has stopped taking naps since she was 18 months when her little brother was born, and i try to get her to sleep but she will not and b 4-5pm shes an emotinal wreck crying and srceaming at anything and everything now she is almost 3 and i cannot cope with crying every day!!

My daughter stopped taking naps several months ago. She goes to bed between 6-7pm depending on the day we had and wakes between 6-7am. She is at the point where if she does nap she can not fall asleep at night. My daughter used to be a little crabby as the day went on but that was before I started putting her to bed earlier. I love my daughters schedule, we have tons of time to play and learn during the day, and if we go out I don't have to worry about a nap. Then at night I have a lot of time in the evening to clean up and spend quality time with my husband.

My son takes a nap somedays. He wouldn't go to bed he would fall asleep in the car or in his buggy.
He goes to bed at 7 or 8 pm so I rather he doesn't map somedays cos he'll be up later at night

my 34 month old still naps...I lay her in her crib with her blanket and elmo...she lays right down and sleeps without any problems. Its not uncommon for kids to stop taking naps though. however if he is miserable maybe wake him up earlier so that he naps. My kids nap for about an hour and half and then there bed time is at 7ish. so they are on schedule.

NOOOO naps here for my tot anymore she willbe 34 months old tomorrow and she hasnt napped since she turned 24 months old unless she is sick she will go lay in her bed and watch tv for an hour thou during the 2 hour nap time while daycare kids are napping.
