Hi, sorry no advice to give really except for I had my tonsils and ademoids taken out when I was about 8 years old and from what I remember it really was not a big deal for me. I remember I was advised to eat plenty of toast and crisps to avoid any scabs forming! Good luck with your little one! x

hi samantha. you are bound to be worried but try not to be. i dont have experience of tonsils and adenoids but my daugter had grommits put in at 8 mths. she also had reconstructive surgery on her mouth at the same time. she was small born, under the second centile and had only just made it to the second centile line by the time she had this surgery. this was her second general anasthetic(sp?). her first was aged 3 mths and she weighed about 8 lb.

i know i've rambled on a bit, sorry! what i'm trying to say is, it's a lot more traumatic for you than it is for her! the surgeons will have done hundreds of these procedures before, and she will feel so much better afterwards. i'm sure she (and you!) will be fine xx

let us know how she gets on xx

Oh my god im sooooo glad iv found you!!!

Samantha, iv been really stressed out also as my son is having the same thing done on Aug 27th, he's not having the ear tubes put in but he does have an app at the Audiology Dept this Weds, so u never know!!

People keep saying to me that its only a minor op + done v.quickly but it doesnt put my mind at rest one bit.....well it wudnt wud it!!

My son, Leon, is v.small for his age, he's a twin + was 2mths premature, but still at 20/21mths im not happy at him having this done when he weighs only 16lbs.....iv been going out of my mind with worry but im reassured by the Drs that it needs to b done for him to thrive...

What date does Lily have hers done? You'll have to let me know how it went (if you dont mind that is!!)

All the best with Lilys op + if u want to talk to some1 who understands what ur going thru then PLEASE!!! feel free to send me a msg!!!

hi samantha my oldest daughter which is nine now had her tonsils and adenoids taken out at this age. i was joking to the dr one day about how cute it is that she snored when she was asleep which he said wasn't normal so i had to take her to a specialist and he told me that she only had 1 percent airway so within 2 days they did surgery. this was 7 years ago almost but i remember like it was yesterday because i was so scared. they put her to sleep and did the laser surgery. it seemed like it took hours but really it didn't take but about 45 minutes. after she was done, they put her in a room and when was fully awake they monitored her for about an hour and let us go home. the only problem we had after bringing her home was obviously the pain but after we got home all she asked for was some medicine and a chicken leg.lol. but don't worry (i know it's hard not to) after all that's your child but she'll be fine. as far as the tubes, i don't have any personal experience with that but a friend of mine has a child who recently had it done and she said it wasn't that bad. good luck and hope all goes well!!
