My daughter loves the Earth's Best snack bars. They are kind of like a fruit filled cereal bar. She loves cheese too.

I find with my 17 month old that if I give her big things she loves to hold onto them and chew, nibble, suck etc bits off - she loves pears (I peel some of the skin off to get her started), carrots, plums, big strawberries - she'll eat the whole thing whereas if I chop it all up she's not too keen - I think they're less likely to choke if they have the entire fruit/vege plus they can still chew and bite with not too many teeth. Maia only got her 1st tooth after her 1st b'day (she has about 10 now I think). Wholemeal/grain bread or toast - Maia would be happy with that as her snack all the time and carbs are good for toddlers (especially wholegrain) - I made a spread with canned tuna, sweetcorn, spring onions, mayo and tomato sauce - she loved it! I also gave her soft museli bars like nutri-grain (1/2 of one & 1/2 for me!) which she loves but I try not to give them too often as they must have quite a bit of sugar - I bought baby rice cakes but they weren't too popular.

I cant remember who makes the net thing but they are a good little find. We're in a little village just on the outskirts of Wisbech in Cambridgeshire. Where are you?

Hi Katie, Im in the UK too! My little boy is 16 months old and only has six teeth! Its difficult to come up with a variety of foods that are healthy, especially as he is not good at eating most fruits and vegetables unless they are mixed in with other foods (other than bananas and raisens !). I got a good gadget from Asda, its like a big dummy but with a little net that you can put food in and they can suck and chew and bite. He loves it and will eat alot of things through that which he wont eat if i just chop and put in front of him. At least with this gadget he gets the juices and flavour of different foods. He will eat Wotsits, Quavers, Skips, cheddars, biscuits and cakes and pots of yoghurt or pureed fruit or flavour custard with no problem, but obviously they are not that healthy but I say everything in moderation, as long as I make his main meals packed with goodness then I think he is doing ok. He drinks loads of water too which is good. He wont touch cheese but loves ham, chicken, and fish. I also found if i peeled everything he was more likely to have a chew! As long as he has a variety of different foods within his week then Im happy. Youre little girl looks gorgeous and just as cheeky as my little boy! (PS. Is she walking yet as they say thats all teeth related too?)

The Gerber Puffs are a great one. Can you get those over there?

We also gave our daughter small cubed pieces of cooked sweet potato.

She also liked Avacado and soft cooked noodles.

Good luck! Your little one is adorable!

oh ok...well any type of a cracker or cookie that gets soft when it gets wet will work. It's more less food that when she sucks on it, she's able to gum it then!

They make baby gold fish she could have and the Gerber Puffs. She could have pretty much anything that if it gets wet it's mushy so she could gum things!
