What did you do for your baby's first birthday? Was it a small family thing, or were there a bunch of people there? Give me all of the details! My daughter's first birthday will fall on Thanksgiving this year, so we plan to do a small family thing on her actual birthday and have a party for her the Saturday before, I'm just wondering what other people do on 1st birthdays.

We are having a Minnie Mouse themed party for my daughter on Nov. 14th. Her actual birthday is the 17th. I went a little bit overboard considering that we just took a two week vacation, had to get a new computer, and Christmas is coming up, but I wanted it to be a great party since we probably won't have another one until she is school-aged. I have invited about 50 people and we are having it at a park. Who knew you had to pay to rent a picnic area at a park!? We are having it at noon so we will have tons of food and drinks, and my cousin is making an awesome Minnie Mouse fondant cake. I ordered the photo invites online, and even registered her at target and toysrus. I know that sounds bad, but I know I would love it if I could get a child something they actually wanted or needed for their birthday! I am looking to get a bouncer but the park doesn't have electricity hookups where we will be. I have gotten huge rainbow lollipops for favors (since there will be more adults than children), and put cute Minnie Mouse tags with a saying and the date of the party. Decorations are in hot pink and white with tons of balloons. I am still not sure if I should do games or not. There may be about 6 kids there, and their ages are from 4 on up. With all of this planning and the expense, I wish we had just gone to Disneyland or something!

Mt daughter turns one on the 15th November. Like yourself we could not decide on a party or a small family thing. But now we have decided that it will just be her dad and myself and her going to the aquarium in town, and then a lunch with a cupcup in the cafe there. Nice and intimate and quality family time. This way she can play with the fish and games that they have there and have all the attention. Good luck deciding

My son is 1 on the 21st November and we are having a big get together at home with family and friends of about 50 people, 6 kids and 7 other babies/1year olds from my mothers group. We have a big outdoor entertaining area and a pool so its gona be a Pool Party and hopefully a perfect day. A BBQ sausage sizzle for lunch as thats so easy! Party food and loot bags for the kids and of course a cake! For our family, its a great excuse for a family get together of the rellies we only usually see a few times a year!

We are doing a "smallish" party. I expect about 15 adults. We are having it on a Sunday from 2-4, so it is a short party with cake and presents. I don't want to overwhelm him too much.

Try 1stwishes.com....I was told that the first bday should be small(family and a few friends) because the child will not remember any of it. My son's bday is the 24 of Nov. and I'm giving his party on Sat. His party will have between 10 -16 kids, a #1 cake, ice-cream, food, a few games, and party favors! I can't think of anything else to do with them. This is my 1st child :-)....Im clueless....if you can't think of anything, ask for help, I know I will be!! LOL......good luck

My twin girls are turning one on Friday, 6th November. We are having a morning tea and cake for mothers' group, friends and family on Saturday, 7th November. Guests are welcome to stay for a sausage sizzle lunch. I have "out-sorced" most of the work. Getting friends and family involved in helping with what they are good at. I got my mom in law to design the invites, my partner is arranging the sausages, a friend's kids have helped with decorations...etc. The only thing still up to me is icing the two cakes.

My son turns 1 year on 26th November and we just haven't got the room to have everyone here. We weighed up the options: either have 2/3 parties for him at home (which will end up quite expensive food wise) or hire a hall and invite everyone. Luckily we were able to hire a hall quite cheap and Tom's Uncle owns a bouncy castle company so he's supplying that as his birthday present. I cut costs by emailing invites rather than sending them in the post (far more reliable in my opinion) and put on the invites that adults can bring their own alcohol if they want it.
Good luck, hope all goes well xx
