My hair started falling out around 5 months.. now at 7 months and it has pretty much stopped. I did notice a signifcant decrease in the amount of hair I was losing after getting a haircut. I also started taking prenatals again.

my hair fell out with both my kids for about 6 months, I wanted to cry both times. I got a hair cut after my son and it seemed to slow down on how much hair i was loseing.

My doctor told me that the hair loss is due to breastfeeding. Many breastfeeding mothers lose their hair to different degrees and it's mostly because alot of the nutition in your food is used to make milk for baby. Now that Zeb has dropped a feed my hair loss has slowed down significantly.

i am glad i found this post.. i was starting to worry that a) i was the only balding 23 year old woman in the world and b) that it would never stop. phew.. i mean i knew to expect "some hair loss" but i guess i didnt anticipate this much!

Not only does it stop...but I find it is growing back. My baby is 6 months and my hair has finally sprouted again! I have little baby hairs again...
Don't worry ladies, your hormones will eventually go back to normal.

Thank you so much for posting this. I was so freaked out and my husband was too! I can't take a shower without having a handful of hair come out. My boss even made a comment because there was so much on the back of my chair! It wasn't like this with my other kids, so I figured it was age or stress.....which those probably don't help....

I have fine and thin hair as it is, and it's coming out like mad. I think it's time for a short haircut again!

I was kinda thankful for finding this thread coz my hair just started falling a few days ago.

Is this hormonal? If it is then we will just have to wai for the hormones to settle down?

Kinda relieved hearing that I'm not alone in this.

Yes. i did have  falling hair also when i was pregnant.

Oh phew, this is happening to other mums too. I have thick red curly hair and its falling out like crazy, i emptied the vacume and it was 80% red hair ewwww i hope it stops soon as it is kind of embarrasing to be shedding like this.

Mine is falling out like crazy too! My baby is 3 months old and it just started last week. I was expecting it though. Luckily mine is super thick so it needed to be thinned anyways. But I hate having it all over my clothes and my bed and everything! How long does it last? That is what I want to know.

Mine is falling out too!  I was expecting it though.  I read somewhere that when you're pregnant, because of hormone changes and stuff you don't lose the number of hairs each day that you normally would.  I guess after 3 months your hair loss goes back to normal but since you have thicker hair now, there is more to fall out.  I know what you mean about how it's crazy though.  My hair is on the sheets, in the sink, on my clothes, in the crib, on the baby's hands.  I hope it stops soon!
