I started brushing my baby's teeth as soon as I saw them coming through. It was not big deal. Now, he is one and he brushes his own teeth, he does a good job with what he has.

If your baby is still young and they get their first tooth then I recommend that you brush it for them, they say try to do it every time after they eat or drink. You can buy that little rubber brush that goes over your finger, its honestly awesome. I used it on my daughter to the point where she would start biting my finger, LOL but at that point she was over a year. Just recently I bought her her own brush and the edible toothpaste and we now both sit and brush our teeth together.....sometimes I help since she enjoys putting the toothbrush in her mouth and just eats the toothpaste.

my sons doctor said to start using a gum brush that you put over your finger to start brushing when his first tooth started coming thru so that he would be used to it and not object too much when he got more later. also as he got older (closer to 11 and 12 months) he watches me brush my teeth and i give him his tooth brush so he can learn what to so and sees its ok that mommy does it too

My son got his bottom two teeth at the same time, around 13 1/2 months chrono,9 1/2 months adjusted. I actually started usung a fingerbrush (no toothpaste) once a day before his teeth came in to help stimulate his gums. I used the fingerbrush for a little while after the teeth came in, but then bought a toddler toothbrush. I brushed his teeth with it for a few days, and then he grsbbed it from me and stuck it in his mouth, lol. He doesn't brush, just chews on it for a bit and then lets me brush for him. I brush the two teeth he has and then use the brush to massage at his other gums. Right now his top teeth are trying to come in.

Hummm, my baby liked to watch both his dad and I brush our teeth, so I bought him his own toothbrush and with supervision I watch him brush his teeth. He is 1 yr. and 3 months but buy the toothpaste that is ment for a baby. To much florid is not good for a baby but I am not sure why.

my son got his first tooth when he was 3 moths! and a week after the 2nd tooth!!(both on the upper gum), then after 2 months 2 teeth on lower gum but the 2 teeth on the upper gum stained, at first i thought its just a stain from chocolate biscuit but i cant wipe it anymore.

My son is 15 months old... He has 11 teeth now including molars. I also have the non-flouride toothpaste. I use the finger brush that comes with it most times and try not to get bit. We just recently bought a toddler toothbrush with elmo on it. He likes it but is still not too sure about me using it. Until he gets comfortable with it, the finger brush will do. I brush his teeth once a day right now.

I started when our girl got her first tooth at 10 months, but not always twice a day. This past month she's gotten 4 new teeth, so I do it at least once a day now. I bought toddler toothpaste without fluoride (safe to swallow) that is fruit flavour and she seems to like it when I brush her teeth a lot more now, but she's still not so thrilled about me doing her top teeth. She's only got 6 teeth, but it helps to start off young, and keep those teeth healthy as long as possible,

I bought him a little very soft child/baby toothbrush. I let him pick the color. You do not use toothpaste at this time. They would swallow it and that is harmful. I just run the brush under water after his meals. I started by just giving him the brush. He chews on it a bit and just explores it. Now that he has six teeth. I actually get in there (gently) and brush them just a bit. Its more to just get some of the bacteria and gookies from eating off his teeth. He did fight me a little bit, but I try to be quick and I'm not as thourough as if I was brushing my own. It is helpful to at least wipe the teeth off. They can get cavities when little too and it helps to start with good baby teeth. Ask your pediatrician for more help

My daughter is not to fond of the toothbrush either but if I do it along with her she gets a kick out of it. There are some days that she just wont allow the brush in her mouth, then I use a wet cotton round and wipe everything quickly, trying to avoid getting my finger tips bit off! Just one of those things ya gotta do.....

My son got his first tooth at 4months, now has a mouthful of 12 with the two bottom canines pushing through! On the advice of baby books and the local health unit, I started brushing his teeth twice a day as soon as he got his first tooth, and while it is not something he loves, he manages to get through it and prefers us to use the children's toothbrush that plays songs!
