I planned my son's c-section from the day i found out i was pregnant, but my water broke the night before the scheduled date, so we just moved up the surgery and he was born at midnight the night before instead. im really glad my water broke and he was able to "choose" his own birthday. i had the best possible birth experience. i can't wait to do it again!

Both med-free, vaginally.
I was given the option of a section for my son as he was breech. I literally had to beg my OB to do an external version. She gave me all the negatives to it but it's still less negatives than going with a section. Funny how she didn't give me a single negative for having a section. Sigh.. oh well.
26 hours of hard labor (2 1/2 pushing) and my son was born. Beautiful and healthy.
With my daughter I went with a midwife and had much more control, knowledge and guts to stand up for myself... Labor (from start to finish) was 1 hour and 15 minutes... less than 30 seconds of pushing.
I love the births of both my babies and while both were empowering and wonderful my daughter's was just phenomenal. I had no one telling me what to do or how to position myself or trying to force me to do anything. I gave birth standing in a bathtub and it was AWESOME!!!

Emergency c-section about 5 hours in. Had the cervadil, couple hours later had the eipidural, then her heart started dropping so they took me back and within the next hour, here she was! I wish I had a better birth plan and that I didn't get induced.

@ April Walker: That is a great question you ask. But I believe elected C-section is an option now and some women prefer it. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/43807114/n...

In pre-natal classes they are advised that it is better to have c-sections. But my 20 year old daughter wants to have it naturally. I had one by c-section but then had the next three natural.

have the baby natural if you can its surgery. It's hard on your body and each time the doctors says you put strain on your body. they only want you to have 3 of them because of it. You dont get to bond with the baby right away because of it. You have to wait to hold your baby.

First was a system caused unnecessary caesarean
Second was a genuine emergency caesarean
Third was a vaginal birth in hospital
Fourth was a vaginal birth at home in a pool in my bedroom - best thing I ever did!

i had a c section. i really really wanted a natural birth with no pain control. i wanted it to be all natural. but i had an emergency c section where they put me completely out. i didnt even realize i had had a baby until he was about 2 hours old. Recovery for me was easy. i was walking around the next day. never had to use pain meds.

Natural, and due to him being stuck and the fact that I pushed for 2 1/2 hours it was no drugs either :( Truthfully though you don't need drugs when pushing, just the contractions before they let you push.

Same story as many of the others. Labored for 17 hrs and then an emergency c-section (her heart rate kept dropping). Scheduled for a 2nd c-section in 3 weeks but if water breaks or I go into labor sooner, I may try for a VBAC. I need a faster recovery this time now that I have a 3 year old too.

I had a C-Section, I pushed for three hours and I did not want her to be suctioned so I asked after three hours of her being stuck in the Canal to have one. I would not have changed it for the world.

I had a c-section because my baby boy was in a breech position. I opted to not try the manual version because I heard it was painful and risky and didn't work half the time anyway. I hope to deliver vaginally with my next since the recovery for the c-section was not fun.

With my first, I had him vaginally. I was in labor for 36 hours and pushed for 3 hours. His shoulders had become lodged and he was stuck. They placed the vacuum on his head and tried to pull him out. They pulled it off his head once and then placed it back. My son went into distress and they then while pulling the vacuum jumped on my belly and pushed him out by pushing my belly. A couple days later they found a blood clot in my leg. With the second one they delivered him by c-section because they didn't want to have the same experience as the first.

I have three girls. The first was vaginally delivered (15 hrs labor, 2 hrs pushing). The second was an emergency c-section (her heart rate was dropping). The third was a planned c-section b/c I couldn't go VBAC b/c of the emergency c-section.

my baby was born at home, and in very short notice. luckily i had a midwife. when she got to my place i was 10 cm dialated. in my mind we were still going to the hospital but then my water broke and 5 pushes and about 15 minutes later she was out. there were no complications and the midwives and my doula were all excellent!

Mine was a emergency c-section 13hrs after being induced. The problem was i wasnt progressing (got to 5cm & they said i wouldnt go any further) & had a reaction to the induction drugs. They told me his head wasnt as 'engaged' as it should be, but found out that it was actually stuck in my pelvis & they had to use forceps to get him out even with c-section!

My first two were natural births, but were rough due to a cervix that doesn't like to dilate on it's own, with Samuel however (my 3rd) I went through what was considered a failed induction and had a failed cervix (dilated to 2 and never any further after 48 hours of full drip pitocin) They couldn't send me home due to pre eclampsia so I had to have a c-section, I personally don't understand why anyone in their right mind would opt for a c-section over natural birth, I bounced right back after the first two, the c-section took 8 weeks to get over the searing fire pain that went through my abdomen at the slightest movement, and even still there is residual pain if my underoos sit on the scar. I always encourage brand new moms that if they can to go natural

I had a vaginal delivery, no meds, about 10.5 hour labor. It started about 7pm and had her at 5:52 am. My doula and sister were awesome! We ended up at the hospital but got sent home, and stayed at my doula's house until I couldn't take the pain anymore. We ended up at the hospital at 5am and I was already 9cm...it was FAST FORWARD. My doctor and husband showed up at the same time and 10 mintues later our daughter was born!

My son was born vaginally on November 6th. I had an epi but wish I could have had him naturally. Although the epi really helped since he came out with his arm against his head. He also weighed 9lbs 2oz and was 21 1/2 inches long. I hope to have a natural childbirth next time.
