Hi, I'm currently just over 19wks pregnant with my second child. I had been feelig him move & kick quite often, mostly at night while I was resting. The other evening he seemed to sink very low, he felt like a hard ball in between my hip bones. He has since moved as my belly is soft again but I haven't felt him kick. Am I being overly concerned as he's still very small?

If you're ever worried about your baby not moving, have some chocolate, it always worked with my pregancies, got them moving straight away!

I had the same scare and flew into the ER in a panic. They diagnosed me as extremely dehydrated. DD was kicking away, but for some reason I never felt it. Was chided for not drinking enough water and sent on my way. DD was totally fine.

storkradio.com has dopplers you can rent for super cheap for one month or more. Until the baby gets bigger to ease your fears I would suggest renting one. They are SOO worth it. If you ever are worrying you can lay back and listen to your babies heartbeat whenever you want!!! I rented them for both pregnancies and loved it!

If this happens again then hereis a tip. Lie on your back and have a very very cold drink this should make your baby move within 10 minutes as they do not like the coldness. This is used in hospitals some times if they need to scan for certain things and can't get the baby in the right angle.

Believe me girl your not the only one who has ever gone through that. There will be times that you won't feel him move, this is normal. It even happend to me when i was pregnant with twins. Good luck with the pregnancy

Just remember that like us babies in the womb have periods where they sleep and like us have days where they just want to chill out and not move around as much. As time goes on you are going to feel them kick less and less since they are running out of room from growing. I found the best thing to do when I was worried ( besides call my doctor and my doctor told me to do this also ) is to drink something with a lot of sugar. OJ is best and lay down for about half an hour after and just feel for movement. I noticed that my son was the most active at night and in the early morning.

Hi Jess. I didn't 'feel' Siobhan kick until about 20wks. Know what to look for this time so was able to id my son's movements from about 16/17wks. Saying that, they are still very light flutters & kicks & I only feel them in the evenings when I'm resting & very still, easy to miss/mistake for wind in the early stages. We were all set to go down labour ward but he started kicking again!! (typical male lol) All I would say is if you have any concerns 'phone your midwife, that's what they're there for. (Mine told me to have a warm bath & a caffinated drink & then monitor things overnight then ring labour ward if still concerned) I know you can hire 'Dopplers' to listen o the heartbeat which would put your mind at rest but I know it's difficult to locate the heartbeat in the early days so if you can't find it it may make you fret more............exactly why I resisted my fella's request to get one lol! I hope you're mind is put at rest soon x
