Hello,

My 2 month old son has severe dry skin. His farhead has red patches & it feels so rough. I feel helpless. I was told (by his pediatrician) to use vaseline or baby lotion. It sorta helps... but I want to know is there anything else that would work better? Any suggestions?

Thankyou

my daughter's skin is the same way. her hands were red and scaly right from birth and her wrists and fingers were so dry they would crack and bleed... best thing ever, spectro eczema kids creams and body wash. Even if your son doesn't have eczema it wont hurt because it isn't medicated. It has worked wonders on my daughter and her little hands (aswell as all her other trouble spots) are now smooth again and no longer crack! Good luck.

You could try Eucerin, or the store brand equal. I have ecxema and I put Eucerin or Vaseline on right after a bath/shower while my skin is still damp. The theory is that it traps the moisture in before it has a chance to escape. It works well if I can wear white gloves for the night-a little challenging with a baby.

Hi

my doctor prescribed an emulsifying ointment it's a bit like vasaline but in a huge tub i would really reccommed it our baby peeled from head to toe but now her skin is great. We also use the "Simple" baby products range which are fragrance free and for sensitive skin.

Hope this helps

My little one has craddle cap and I found that using the gel baby oil really helped.  I left it on for a little while then brushed her head with the baby comb(very gently).  After washing her  as ususal and lots of the flakes came off.  But I wait several days in between, so as not to irritate her head any further.  And baby lotions everyday.

Is it eczema? I think all winter babies have problems with dry skin...eczema & cradle cap are forms of really dry skin. I think you have to try different OTC creams to see what works for your baby...I now only bathe her every 2-3 nights, use Aveeno Soothing Relief Baby wash (soap, fragrance free), lube her up 2x/day with disney Gentle Naturals Baby eczema cream...it took a few days, but her skin drastically improved. i miss that great baby soap smell, but all soaps are drying, so that's out.

Not sure if you can get it but I found E45 worked really well on my LO's dry skin on his forehead - its safe to use on babies.
