Finger foods- how do you get your baby to self feed?

Hi, I know I just posted about feeding solid food, but I want some specific ideas for getting my son to self feed with finger foods. He seems very uninterested in any food that I give him. He puts everything in his mouth, but if he knows it's food, he doesn't. It's so frustrating. I always feed him his cereal or yogurt when I KNOW he is hungry and I'm trying to feed some texture foods and get finger foods going too. He just seems so reluctant.

My son is pretty good and will pretty much want to try a bit of anything that we have. To start him off I just put it in front of him when he was in his highchair and he just started picking it up and tasting it and then making noises to indicate he wanted more. We started with bits of potato as we were feeding him mashed potato for example. Definitely keep at it and everything will develop with time. Each bub is unique and they all do their own thing at their own pace. Good luck with it!

I make sure she is able to pick the food up herself. I have found she refuses bananas because they are hard to pick up.

My daughter (10 mth today) recently started eating "real" food like we eat. It is taking her a while to explore with all the different textures, tastes, and colors. I started her out on puffs and cheerios. Now she is eating everything we eat for lunch and dinner. She still plays and explores. Some foods she will eat more of. my only advise would be to let him explore and work at his own pace. I still substitute jars and bottles if I don't think she ate enough. Hope this helps!
