Hi all, was just wondering how everyone else is doing in term of their physical fitness. Have you gotten back to your normal weight yet? I gave birth nov.19 and i lost most of the tummy but still have a "loose" abdomen. How are you guys doing? And if you're doing great, what exercise are you doing?

It's either I'm too lazy or too busy for exercise. I gave birth to WIlliam on 9th Nov still have about 8 pounds to lose. Tummy still flabby but I notice that it is getting firmer. Could be due to walking up and down the stairs frequently. I'm breastfeeding as well.

I still have 17 pounds to lose & then the before baby weight as well. My stomach has been stretched since I had my first son 6 years ago. There is a chance it might bounce back but depending on your physical fitness level before & during pregnancy it may not. Eeventually I will have to have a tummy tuck to get rid of the excess skin & the fat that will not be lessened by exercise. Trying to get into the a schedule of exercise is hard when I work full time in an office (sitting down) & then come home to take care of my kids & it's dark & cold outside.

Hiya

I gained just over 3 stone with my pregnancy and i have just under a stone to lose now i think it's better to lose it slowly otherwise the skin dosen't go back as well.

Quoting Brooke:

the best abdominal exercise my personal trainer showed me is to lay flat on your stomach with your forearms flat on the ground from elbow to fist. point your toes down to the ground and push your bottom up and hold your tummy in tight and hold it for as long as you can and then repeat it as many times as you can. you should feel it in your abs. or there's the good old sit ups. but your baby is only 2-3 months old dont be too hard on yourself. your body has been through some big changes in the last few months.

Will definitely try this! I know i shouldn't be rushing to lose all the weight, but it's so frustrating! My maternity clothes are too loose, but my prepregnancy clothes are still a bit tight! Thanks for this exercise tip!

wow kathleen triplets congratulations i hope all is well, must be very difficult and demanding caring for them. i have 4 children, thats a challenge but i dont know if i could handle 3 babies.

Kathleen i have had hips aching in the past also and the doctor said that it was due to weight and once i lost weight i would be fine, which i am.

for weight loss walking is actually better than running because you need a lower level of cardio exercise.

If you cut down on carbs you are sure to loose weight.

potato, pasta etc just have smaller proportions.

hope ive helped

i would try swimming it would take the weight off your hips.

I gave birth nov 18 and have lost 20 out of 30 lbs.. I just started back to the gym a couple weeks ago and am hoping to see more progress soon.... (I gave in and bought myself some low cut jeans that fit in my pre-pregnancy size cut having to wear maternity clothes after working out was not very motivating!!)

Hi! I gave birth to triplets on Nov. 4th. and because I had a c-section, I started working out again 6 weeks ago. Suprising, I am down to 5 pounds under my pre-pregnancy weight, but that's because I lost so much muscle while being on bedrest, and I am breastfeeding. I am doing a lot of running, but sit ups are good for the abs. Just like yorus- My abs aren't even close to what they used to look like!

Ohhhh...I'm jealous! I delivered on Nov 20 and had gained 45 pounds. I lost 30 in the first 3 weeks while I was breastfeeding, and then had to quit because of several issues with me and my baby. I haven't lost a pound since then! I used to run a lot and have gone to the track a few times but I get pain in my hips so bad that I end up limping after a couple laps. It's very frustrating because I'm dying to lose more weight and my body is not cooperating! Has anyone else had similar problems with hip pain? My hips ache all night long too and have since about 6 months pregnant.

I delivered on the 19th as well.  I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight after 5 or 6 weeks.  I gained around 27lbs in my pregnancy.  Despite the fact that I am now a few pounds below my pre-pregnancy weight, I have the loose abdomen.  I have been walking a lot.  I like getting out any day the weather permits and usually walk for a minimum of an hour.  Pushing that stroller is a better workout than one might think.  The abdominal exercise that Brooke is talking about is awesome.  I learned it in dance class as a teenager and had totally forgotten about it.  It is probably the best ab exercise I know of.

I too had my bubs 2 days before you, I am back to prepreggy wt but not prepreggy clothes... weird I know. I agree with Brooke on the excercises and also walking is very helpfull if you get the time .... lol... Also dont stress to much about it as it took 40* odd weeks to gain the weight so give yourself at least half that to lose it.

Goodluck

I don't really have an answer, but...I delivered 2 days before you, and was back to my pre-pregnant wt by 7 weeks (yeah, breastfeeding!). However, things just aren't laying the way they once did, especially my belly. When I bend over, I have that nasty old lady pucker in the middle, and everything is squishy! (at 38, I'm ok with my bikini days being over). All of my friends say that exercise can help, but that it just takes time as well. We really are only 3 months out, so maybe we should cut ourselves a little slack!

And I don't know about you, but I'm still living in the land where the opportunity to sleep wins out every time over other pursuits!!
