Since we all had babies in November of 2008. Then those of us who are planning on going back to after the three months of FMLA are probaly going very soon or have already started. My first day back to work will be on Feb 11th. Since this is my first child i am feeling a little nervous and just looking for a little support. What can I expect my first day back? How will breast pumping go? Will my precious little one be ok at daycare?

I went back to work last Monday. I am a teacher and because of my schedule can only pump once a day. If you are able to pump more than once do, I become very uncomfortable around lunch but luckily am able to pump right after the kids eat. This is my second and I feel very guilty leaving her every morning and I call and check in on her constantly. My husband is on paternity leave so he is home now, but when he goes back she will go to an in-home daycare and the lady who runs it is wonderful and does not care if I call 6 times a day to make sure she is all right. This lady has also watched my son since he was 6 months old (he is now 2), having some you trust is crucial. Also prepare to be busy talking to people all day long on that first day, they want to know all that has happened in the past few months and bring lots of pictures.

I went back to work this past Monday. My husband and I are both in the Navy so we needed to find either child care or a babysitter. We chose a lady from our church who has 3 daughters already. I won't lie to you, the first day was really rough. Every time someone would ask how my son was doing I would have to fight with all I had not to cry. That didn't last though, I ended up breaking down and bawling. Luckily they let me go home early that day.  It's gotten better since then, just a little bit better every day. Even though when I'm at work all I think about is if my baby's doing ok and wondering when I can get home to pick him up! I've been pumping everyday too. About 3 times a day. I get to pump in a public bathroom...nice I know. It works out though. Just be sure you have a chair, an outlet close by, and a sink to rinse off your pump. You'll want a cooler of some type for your milk if you don't have a fridge at work. Hope this helps, sorry it wasn't very upbeat!

My son was born 11/24 and i have been back to work for 4 weeks already. I am breastfeeding and do pump 2 or 3 times a day at work. There is a private conference room that i normatly use which works nice. I was a little sore yet the first week back working, guess i wasn't used to all the physical activity! It took a little to get back into the swing of things. Work is going great now. My boyfriend watches him while i'm at work so i don't have to worry about daycare. We work opposite shifts so it works for now, we might consider daycare once he's a little older.
