Is anyone dropping a milk feed yet for their 10 1/2 old baby?

I give my baby son 4 bottles through the day and was thinking of dropping a feed. He normally has milk first thing followed by porridge and toast, milk at 11.00, lunch at 12.00, bottle at 3.00, dinner at 5.00 then bottle before bed at 6.45. I was thinking of skipping the bottle when he first wakes. Thanks for your help

Hi, Ava only on two bottles a day, one in the morning & last thing before bed. She has been like like this since she was 9 months, now she is fussing with her morning bottle, only takes 2oz if lucky. I substitute it with yogurts, baked potato with butter, cheese, she loves all that & seems very happy, doesnt miss her bottles at all. She now 11 months.

my son has just turned 11 months and has dropped all bottles except few onces first thing which is no where near recommended amount. he used to have full 8 onces first thing and about 5 onces before bed. He has only had two botles for several months. and now im worried he will refuse all bottles by time he is one! you could replace first bottle with breakfast but depends on what time he wakes up and how that schedules rest of meals throughout the day. so good luck.

my daughter's schedule is very similar to your sons and she dropepd her 11 oclock bottle by herself. she just stopped drinking it. start giving him lunch before the bottle and he will probably let it go.

I have almost 11 mo old twin boys and I just dropped their milk to 3 per day instead of 4 per day. They get cereal and a bottle for breakfast, they eat lunch, they take a bottle before nap, supper, and then a bottle before bed. They did get a bottle around 4 before supper but I did away with that one to get them on a regular 3 meals per day schedule. Hope this helps!

My son is 11mos. I only give him a bottle first thing in the morning and before bed... unless he's been really fussy and hadn't eaten lunch well, then i might give him another mid day. I figure his formula only goes til he's 12 mos. I might as well limit it now and give him plenty of solids.

I breast feed and was at about 4-5 feedings a day when I dropped the feeding right before bed. My daughter was about 9.5 months, and was using it for comfort rather than nourishment. I think as long as your replacing the bottle with some other kind of high calorie liquid, you should be ok. He may fuss at first, just because it's different.

My son has just turned 11 months. He has a 7oz feed when he wakes in the morning. porridge at about 11. Then he has his dinner between 1:30 and 2. Tea at 5:30 the a 8 oz feed at around 7:30 and in bed for 8. We have had this routine since he was about 9 months. It seems to work perfect for us.I think you should deffo keep the morning and night feed to start and end the day. Maybe take out the milk at 11 as its close to baby's lunch, then gradually cut down the milk at 3 or replace with a small drink of cows whole milk. Every baby is different. You just have to find out what works best for you. Hope this helps!

I think you can. My 11mon old boy dropped the 3pm bottle at 9 1/2 - 10 months. He didn't even notice it was gone. I just spent one week making it smaller and smaller until it was nothing. You should do the same for the other ones as you slowly ween him until a year. Then no bottles and no formula.

My daughter (10 months) only has a morning bottle and a bedtime bottle with an occasional afternoon one if she seems hungry.

My daughter has breakfast an hour after waking. 8oz bottle with cereal and half a jar of fruit. Then she naps at 11:30, another bottle after she gets up around 3 with a little something to eat, and then dinner and a bottle. It all depends on what works for your child. I would skip the 11 if they are eating at 12.

My daughter is on pretty much the same schedule. It just depends on the day. Some days I can skip her 11:00 bottle and other days she has a bottle and it's gone in like 5 minutes. I know for my daughter, she gets really crabby in the morning until she gets her first bottle. I've been thinking of changing her schedule and giving her 2 or 3 ounces with lunch and then a bottle at 3:00 and skip the 11:00 bottle. It would just be easier if they could just tell us what they want!!!

My son gets a bottle when he wakes up, then breakfast, then a snack, lunch, and a bottle before nap, then a snack and then supper and then a bottle before bed....i just skipped the bottle that is usually between nap and supper and he has been ok with it, he will drink a glass of milk, but he sometimes just cries and cries, so then i will give him a bottle.....i don't know if he is ready to not have 4 bottles a day....

i agrree if you want to drop a feed i would drop the 11am feed and possiable just briang the 3pm feed an hour or so forward, but your son will let you know when his due to drop a feed, every child is different i have a son that is the same age as yours and he is only on 2 milk feeds a day so it just depends...

My son is almost 10months and hes on 3 milk bottles a day. When he wakes, before his afternoon nap and at bed time. Maybe you should try dropping the 11.00 feed unless it will work better for you to drop the feed when he wakes!
