She only has 5 teeth. I DO give her people food but I find it's easier to give her vegetables via baby food jar. Is this bad?

my babe has 6 teeth and eats exactly what we eat. You'd be surprised at what they can handle! I mean he eats *everything*, apple slices, he's gotten a whole apple and gnawed on it (thanks to his sister, lol)
We've been feeding him right off our table from the beginning though.
I'd start just giving her little samples of whatever you are having too--of course use your discretion on what to cut up and how, and what not to give--obviously when I say "everything" not like raw baby carrots or nuts or stuff like that!
The little bits help you see what they like without wasting a bunch of food. ;) good luck!

My son is 14 mos, sometimes i think it'd be easier to get him his veggies via baby food, but he hasn't wanted to eat it for a long while now! He eats the gerber snacks, and graduate meals, but mostly what we eat. He only has six teeth, and has for a while, even so he'd choke on chunkier foods at first. But i think its just the change of texture and a matter of getting used to it. I just started small (and with softer foods) and worked my way up. some of the 3rd foods aren't as bad, Isaac loved the corn casserole, or things with rice cuz they're smaller, or cut up bananas. She just has to get used to chewing her food is all. I'm babbling now lol but all in all i wouldn't worry about it.

My husband and I were just having this same conversation over the weekend. My daughter is an eating machine! She eats whatever we eat, to an extent. (We're not giving her steak or anything like that because she only has 7 teeth) But I also like to give her the jarred baby food so I know she's getting fruits and veggies still (We don't have the healthiest eating habits so it's nice to know she's still getting them). I don't think this is a bad thing at any stage, my 39 year old sister still ate baby food as a snack! They will let you know when they don't want to eat it!

I don't think it's necessarily bad, but just because she has only a few teeth doesn't mean she can't eat table food. Their gums are hard enough to break down most food. My daughter just uses her teeth to bite pieces off of things :) We've never really done purees, my daughter hates being fed, but as she is started to chuck vegetables over the side of her chair, we are starting to puree them and "sneak" them into other foods...that's always another way to sneak veggies in and let her try out table food.

I don't think it's bad, my daughter eats a lot of regular food but she doesn't seem to like the texture of any veggies (like cooked carrots, peas, green beans etc) so I still give her the baby food veggies and she eats them up!

I heard that it is actually good to still give them baby food for awhile as chewing with only a few teeth can sometimes be very tiring. I still give my son baby food along with regular food.

I also give my son baby food on occasion. There are some days when we do not eat as healthy as I would like HIM to. For example Chinese food or something like that.
Also if he is teething and his mouth hurts I find he is so much happier eating foods that are very soft.

I'm still giving my baby a little bit of baby food, but I mix it in with the real food at every opportunity. Some of the stage 3 foods are like stews, really, so I wouldn't worry about it. I still give him some of the fruits, too, because you figure they eat applesauce and such. Do what you feel is comfortable and introduce real food at a good time for you kid!

No, baby foods are full of nutrients, I sometimes give baby food if I am in a rush to go out just for quickness otherwise my Son eats what we eat more or less.

Quoting Victoria:
I don't think it's bad as long as she likes it and is getting the nutrition she needs. You can try the 3rd foods and the Gerber Graduates Puffs. They are easy for younger babies to eat and is still easy to digest. Hope this was helpful!!
Yea, she's been eating the Gerber graduate treats and such. As far as 3rd foods, some of those are hard (think, pasta and rice) because she chokes on them....it's really wierd so I just don't give them to her.

I don't think it's "bad" at all. Wes eats mostly "real" food, but there are days when he just doesn't want it, or we are traveling and it's SO much easier to give him baby food. I think whatever works is great. Veggies are a little hard to get in them ... I think the only concern would be that the texture of the baby food is really pureed, and sometimes it's harder to get them to eat real food because the texture is too much. but if she is eating some real food, and a variety of real food, then it's probably just fine :)
