Is my child ready to potty train?

My daughter is almost 3 (33 months) and we are expecting another baby in January. She is a very smart girl and independent in a lot of ways. However, we have had no success with potty training attempts. I've tried making a huge deal with praise, stickers, dancing, etc. I've tried putting her in panties and letting her feel what it's like to wet herself. I've tried no diaper or undies at all. I've tried the potty seat in every room of the house. She talks about it.. she says "I want to use the potty like a big girl".. and she'll sit on it cooperatively. But even if she does go, she goes again in her diaper within minutes of finishing on the potty. She goes very frequently.. it almost seems to me like she just doesn't have the bladder control yet. But everyone.. and I mean EVERYONE, including my husband is pressuring me to get this kid out of diapers pronto. I just am not sure what else to do.

At nearly three your daughter should be able to control her bladder now. If you think she can't then take her to the GP and get her checked over. You say she pees a lot this could be a sign of a simple UTI and if she has a UTI she will be unable to control her pee.

MY advice to you is pick a week where you are going nowhere and then on the Monday put her in pants and nothing but pants all day until night time where she can then ware night time nappies. Take her to the toilet every half an hour until she pees and then wait an hour and start to take her again. Keep using phrases like what a big girl you are. Stick with it every day by day three there should be few accidents. If you are having some success then give her the control by just asking her if she wants a wee rather than taking her. You have to remind frequently at first.

I also found that having a toilet seat on every toilet in the house was a lot easier than potties and to be honest your daughter will feel more grown up to pee like mummy does rather than in a potty.

my son is fully potty trained. i was just lucky really.
when potty training, i kept tryin and trying, everything. then one day he decided himself that he wanted to go toilet even tho he had a nappy on. after a day or son of this i changed him to pants and he hasnt looked back. we get a few accidents but not many.
she'll do it when she's ready, just keep encouraging her. :)
