Hi everyone,

Welcome to the November 2008 Babies community, where we chat about our November 2008 children and whatever else is on our minds!

To get things started, I thought it would be nice if we all introduced ourselves in this thread, which will be pinned to the community home page. Whether you're a Circle of Moms veteran or you're new to the site, let us know who you are, what you’re interested in, and what your lovely November 2008 child is up to right now, developmentally speaking!

Hello everyone! My name is Celeste and I am a single mom to my wonderful daughter Jayden. She is now 17 months old and is my little chatter box.

Right now she is going through major teething, three molars are cutting through. She is learning more words every day and is such a little parrot. The latest thing I taught her was to put her arms up in the air and say "touch down!" as well as saying Seahawks lol (she insists on pausing between Sea and hawks).

Potty-training is going to start pretty soon. I have a potty for her so she can get used to the idea of sitting on it, which she seams to like. I'm not going to rush her though, I figure she will show me when she is ready for this big step.

Hi everyone!

My name is Mara...I'm a married mom of 1. Ausitn was born on Nov 14th. He's running all over the place and hates being inside. He's testing his limits more and more everyday. He loves playing on toy that he can ride. He is just like his dad and loves cars. He talks up a storm every day. I wish that I knew was he says. I think that he's working on the only four teeth he has left to come in, his eye teeth. He loves feeding himself with forks and spoons but they have to be the same ones mom and dad use.

He bangs his head on the floor hits kicks whatever... It's pretty outrageous! Were haveing a hard time right now with changing clothes and diapers...he will hit and kick, scream, try to roll away. Spanking his leg gets him to lay still but i hate to do that... Any advice out there, mommas? Also, I have a hard time coming up with things to pack for lunch at daycare...any suggestions?

Hi,

I am a high school Associate Principal and a mom to Katherine (17 months). I am busy 24/7. My husband teaches college classes which allows us the ability to have Katie home most of the time and attending Child Development classes for just a few hours a week for some interaction with kids her own age. I would love to have more kids but I am struggling to figure out when I will have the time between my career and giving enough time to Katie now. I love being a Mom but I love my career too!

Katie is doing well a very happy and talkative child. She lights up my world.

Hello I am Angela, Mom to Claire and Samantha(my big girl) Claire was born on November 11 2008. She currently has 8 teeth, started to walk at just shy of 11 months of age and has been on the move ever since. Claire loves her Teletubbies, Poe being her favorite. She also loves to play with her baby dolls and books, she loves books. Claire is very social and loves to play with other children and waves high to everyone when we are out and about.
I am an American living in The Netherlands now for about 4 years.
Claire is bi-lingual (she can understand both Dutch and English) however here Mama is not so lingual! My Dutch is not so good.
I am a stay at home Mom, and spend most of my time enjoying it. I raised my daughter Samantha as a single mother all her life(she is now 20) I know big age difference and yes I had her young.
It is nice having the experience of raising a child from birth to 20 but let me tell ya they are never the same and you can always learn more!
Samantha was a 28 week gestation preemie. She is now a lovely young lady and like a second Mama to our little Tiny Claire.
I look forward to getting to know you all!

Im Chelsie, a married mom to 1 boy (so far) born Nov. 25th 2008 as a 25 week gestation preemie. My son Jaxon was 1 pound 14 oz and 13 inches long at birth.

He is doing wonderful with absolutly no lasting affects from being 3 1/2 months premature. His lungs will always have scar tissue in them and he will probably always be the first one with respitory illnesses but under the circumstances I couldn't be happier and he couldn't be either! He is such a wonderful boy.

He is still slightly behind developmentally for being 16 months (13 months corrected) but cathing up very quickly. He isn't walking yet but he is almost there! He has 8 teeth and I am afraid that he has 4-6 coming in at the same time, it has not been pleasent the past week or so.

I love being a mommy. Being a mommy to a preemie is very different then being a mommy to a term baby, but in a sence its more rewarding. I was standing at the finish line waiting for my child to win the fight for his life and in the end he won and everything is great!!

My name is Tracey and I am the mother of a handsome little boy who is about 2 days away from being 16 months. He was born November 25, 2008 at 8 lbs 7 oz and 21.5 inches long. He said his first words at 6 months and repeated them over and over til about 12 months, since then he's just about stopped talking except for his own language. He is starting to try and repeat some words every now and then, but he definitely has his own agenda. He started walking right around his first birthday and now he's impossible to keep up with. My father taught him to shake his head "NO" at 6 months and he has that down pat (thanks a lot Dad!).

He loves to see new things and takes in absolutely everything in sight. The more he can touch the better. I'm always hearing how he's the most well behaved baby in restaurants and out shopping. He's always happy (even through teething and immunizations) and has slept through the night since day one. With his infancy being so easy I'm sure I'll be in for it in the upcoming years!

My name is April, and I'm the mother of a beautiful 16 month old girl named Victoria Lynn. She was born November 22, 2008 by c-section at 8 lbs 12 oz and 20 1/2 inches. She's so smart, it amazes me. She began crawling at 8 months, and was walking at 9. She's been completely off formula for about a month and a half now, and she just learned how to on and off the couch by herself. She eats everything, including mushrooms (blech!), and she is saying a ton of words. Mama, dada, duckie, puppy, kitty, uppy (up), appie (apple juice), baba (bottle), bafie (bath), Bubba (name of our dog), yeah, nana (grandma), pap-pap (grandpa) cookie, baby, hi, bye, uh-oh, thank you, and sometimes please. She also says ow and Elmo.

Tori loves to go for walks, and we go to the park a lot. She's able to go up the stairs without holding my hand, but I'm always right there just in case. She has close to all her teeth already, just missing a few between her front teeth and her molars. Tori loves Sesame Street, and her favorite character is Elmo. According to her pediatrician, she's in the top 95% of her age group, which makes me so happy. She recognizes and responds to no, tori hold hand (for crossing the street), where's tori nose/belly/toes/head/hair, and lay down.

[deleted account]

My name is Clare and I have 2 children. Kyra who is 6 and Elliot who was born November 16th 2008. I live with my 2 children and my partner who is Elliots father.

Elliot has been on the move since a young age, he was crawling at 5 months and walking, climbing and throwing by the time he reached his first birthday. He did not get his 1st tooth till after his 1st birthday and even now he only has 6 teeth. Elliot has just gone to a lactose free diet which makes life incredibly difficult and he still has formula because of this.

He can say certain words like Dada and dog, duck and words mainly beginning with D. He is in to everything and because of this I now have nothing but a TV and sofas in my lounge LOL. He has a temper on him and if he does not get his own way then he tends to throw himself about usually resulting in him getting hurt, sometimes when you tell him no he will sit and bang his head against the wall and throw himself at the floor face first, he can be quite strange. Most of the time though he is a happy boy that loves to be around people!

If she does not get her way she flops on her belly and screams. Otherwise she has been a very healthy and happy baby. Its been actually pretty easy for being a first time Mom. Since day one she has slept all through the night (thank goodness) and haven't had to many problems with her. Right now I am "trying" to potty train but it is hard when she doesn't really talk yet. And I really want to get rid of the binky. She only uses it at bed times. There is alot more I would like to say but I think I am running out of room.

We matched to Marian's birth mom when she was about 5 months pregnant and met our gorgeous daughter when she was one day old. Marian is multi-racial, but this hasn't been an issue yet. We expect as she grows older she will have questions about adoption and why she doesn't look like the rest of us, but we have read all the books and will handle those to our best ability.

Glad to be here. :)

He loves every kind of food and feeds himself. He has now mastered the sippy cup. He has 8 teeth. Sam loves his dog Molly. He says doggy and calls her good girl. He talks all of the time. Hi, my name is Kristel, and I am the married mother of Keira, who was born on November 3, 2008. I can't believe she will be 16 months, tomorrow! She is full of energy and running around everywhere now, having learned to walk at the end of January. Her favorite things (unfortunately) are to climb hills and stairs. She loves cats and dogs. She has only her two bottom front teeth, which came in when she was 11 1/2 months. That was lucky for me because I was nursing, and she turned out to be a biter. :-)

Our challenge right now is that Keira is not saying any words. She is not deaf, she learns how to do things very quickly and very well, so I don't think she is learning disabled, and she babbles a lot, but no words. We have started taking sign language to help her communicate.

I no longer keep the dining chairs in the dining room. He likes to climb onto the table. I also have no glass in my tables next to furniture, he cracked one already. I have boxes piled in front of my bookcase so he doesnt climb that or pull my books out and rip them. My daughter was so much easier! He tries to dress himself and can almost undress himslf. He loves food and I may have to buy a pad lock when he gets older. He learns fast by watching his sister. Did I happen to mention that he was born on my b-day, 9 Nov and my daughter is the 6th of Nov?! My husband has it so easy!! HAHA Logan loves to give hugs. He just curls right in.

hi, my name is Uththon, married for almost 10 yrs and Ibaa is our first child, born on 6th Nov 2008. We live with our extended family which means a lot of stimulation for our baby, negative and positive. Positive in the sense, she has started talking when she was barely an year old. She's 15 months old now and is already communicating with words among her uncles, aunts and cousins. She's walking well and runs around the house in full speed chasing her older cousins speeding on their scooters. The other 2 are also girls.

I find it sometimes scary when they find it hard to share things. Ibaa gets hurt a lot ans sometimes she retaliates with hitting her cousins, which sparks more fire, well no wonder they are kids. But I've retired early and is staying home to take care of my baby and am trying to teach her to be a good cousin. Wish me luck everyone.

MacKenzie and i right now are living in Honolulu, Hawai'i, and daddy will be living here soon too but right now he is on a 6 month deployment with his ship in the Navy. We miss him very much! Also, right now I currently attending Hwai'i Pacific University's Nursing school hopefull to become either a pediatric nurse or a labor and delivery nurse. II hope this explains about us and I hope to get to know all of you mom's more and more as the days go by!! Thanks for letting me share and hope to talk to you guys soon!
