My son is almost 8mos and I was wondering....when do you (or did you) start using level-2 nipples? We tried earlier & it was too fast for him - any thoughts??

Thanks everyone! I tried the 2's and WOW, so much better! What a difference. It's really been a good thing - guess he just wasn't ready when we tried earlier. Maybe he'll move up again soon?!!!

my son was on level two at 3-4 weeks because it was taking him too long to drink a bottle therefore causing him to throw everything up:( now he's on a formula that is a little thicker so he's on level 3

When my daughter started taking about 20-30 minutes to finish a bottle that's when I increased the nipple size. It took her a few days to get used to the faster flow but now at 8.5 months she's on #4 Avent nipples. Also really good to have a faster flow when she's teething so she doesn't have to suck so hard as her gums get so sore.

Good question! I was wondering this myself. We're still using level 1 nipples and Alex is 8 months old now. I've tried level 2 and level 3 but they are still too fast for him. Funny thing is, he can drink a 6 oz bottle in 10 minutes with a level 1 nipple, so I guess no need for us to change him until he wants to.

i started the level 2 nipples fairly early ... at like 3-4 month. I had Madeleine on fennel tea as well (German thing) as she had so much gas but that was thinner than breastmilk so we used level 1 for that. I use the fast flow nipple now for her prune juice as that is a little thicker than the milk. I do try every once in a while to have a fast nipple for milk but she can now shake the bottle and spill stuff. So until she starts complaining that it is too slow I'm sticking with medium flow
