Some days I feel like I am out of my mind. I have 4 kids 8years,4years,2years and 2 months. My 4 year old and 2 year old are sick with a pretty good cold. I have been up and down with them at night for the past week. Now the baby is sick. Just when she started sleeping through the night, she is up every 2 hours coughing. I feel so bad, because there is nothing I can do. I feel like a walking zommbie right now.

i am so sorry and feel your pain! i have 4 also, 6yrs, 5yrs, 2yrs, and the newborn. we have been collectively sick for the last 7 weeks straight witth everything, from vomiting, diahrea, colds, flus, ear aches, coughing, congestion...etc. the baby has had two colds and an intestinal bug. when i've been sick it's been very mild cases, and the only thing i can credit for my unusual immunity ( i usually have the weakest imuune system of the lot) and the baby only getting sick a few times is breastfeeding. did you know that if baby starts to catch a bug before you do, baby will pass those germs to you during a nursing session and your body will have immunities made to pass back to baby by the very next feeding??? that just AMAZES me! i am thankful for that at least...we are moving to Germany in 6 days and i am not looking forward to moving in the midst of a season of sickness. hang in there...eventually it all has to end, right?

I thought I was the only one! I'm so glad I found this post. My baby is on his 2nd cold, too and he was just born Nov. 25th! I thought maybe there was something wrong with his immune system. He caught his first cold from dad at 5 weeks and it lasted 15 days, then he just caught another cold from sister yesterday. He is so congested and miserable, especially at night. I've been using the saline drops, which work a little but they make him scream in misery, so I think I'll try the breast milk tonight instead.

Your kiddies look beautiful hun so you're obviously doing a good job. Is it worth sitting the older one's down and asking them for a little help around the house so Mummy gets a little rest? As for baby, mine has had 2 colds since being born (26th Nov). Now that he's 2 months old i will be giving him Calpol next time he is ill just to settle him a little. I know it's easier said than done but try and kip when she has a nap. Do you have anyone who can babysit for a few hours so you can get a good sleep? Everything seems so much worse when you are tired and although the cold won't magically disappear, it will seem easier if you have had a decent sleep. Hope all goes well hun xx

You're not alone! We all feel like walking zombies from time to time!

Try Eucalyptus oil. Put one little drop on baby's sleeper before bed. It can help to keep passageways clear so baby can sleep. Also, try to have baby sleep in an elevated position for a couple nights. In a baby chair or even car seat, to help the fluids drain. If baby is continually stuffy, try some saline nose drops or breast milk in each nostril before bed. It's amazing what breastmilk can do!! Clears them right up!

Good luck and hang in there!
