my son is 13 months and he doesnt even get to the standing position without help i've been just as nervous lol but i guess its whenever they feel ready dont stress just have faith =)

My first child did not even try to stand up And walk until his first birthday so we thought it will take longer until after a week he just stand up And walk on his own.. And i was so amaze..

My daughter is walking already,she started at 91/2 months......so I really believe that all children are different,and do things in their own time... :)

I would enjoy every minute of this time,cause once they start,there's no turning back!! LOL

My little boy is 14 months nearly 15 months old and has just started taking a couple of steps. It takes different amounts of time for different children, when your not concentrating all of a sudden he will just walk across to u.

My son started walking a few weeks ago and just turned 15 months. He still doesn't stand without pulling up on an object, but it will all come when he's ready.

I have an almost 15 month old and he just started crawling on his hands and knees and standing up against furniture. He'll take 2 steps along the furniture but is very stubborn when we try to have him walk holding our hands (he lifts up his feet). A few months ago he tried to walk by himself and fell flat on his face which stopped him even standing holding onto our hands. My mom says his legs aren't strong enough yet, but he does try to stand straight up so I think he'll walk one of these days out of the blue. His older brother never walked till he was almost 15 months old either. But he would walk holding onto our hands.

Hi all. Heather - Last month my son Zander was 13 months and right about where your son is now. Cruising on furniture, standing up in the middle of the floor on his own then falling back onto the floor to crawl where he wanted to go. This is after a big day 12/14 (when he was 12 months) where he walked for the first time (and I got it on video) he didn't walk again on his own until 1/5 when he just let go of his push train and kept going.



I remember the "why isn't he walking yet" crap from people and the best helpful answer I got was from my pediatrician friend. "he'll walk when he wants. don't worry till he's 3" I took that to heart and stopped fretting, Bought him a push toy, then his grandparents bought him a noisy push train (please can I loose the batteries?) and then one day he walked.



so don't worry, find a push toy (not a walker) and don't worry about it till your peadiatrician says to worry about it.

My daughter Asha is 14 months and still isn't walking. She is cruising around by holding onto furniture but nothing more. I'm sure she will soon but obviously doesn't feel the pressure to get going. She hasn't even tried.

My son just made 14 months this week and he isn't walking yet on his own. As a matter of fact last weekend he began to walk independently, once he realized what he was doing, he flopped right back down on the ground. He hasn't walked again since. As a new Mommy, I was so worried and thinking okay, is there something wrong with my baby. This posting was pretty comforting. It seems as though we are not alone.

i understand! looking at the date on your post makes me laugh, because i was writing in my journal on that day the very same thing. not a week later and all he does is walk. he went from nothing to completly walking. ( i now wish i could go back in time and enjoy the non-walking time instead of worrying) now hes everywhere all the time and its so much more work

He is doing more than mine at now 14 months.

Mine walks around the furniture, stands on his own but that is it.

I'm sure he will eventually do it. At least I hope they all do LOL

My little Isaac is in the same boat. He's almost 14months! He's not walking but cruises. He didn't like it when we would try to stand him up on his own for a while but at least does that now as well. I really believe every child just moves at their own pace. My 4 year old hit every milestone to the day almost. Don't worry, one day he will just decide to give that walking thing a go!

My boy is 14 months, cruises like a champ but isn't walking on his own yet. I'm counting my blessings. Once he starts there'll be no stopping him! All children develop at different rates. It is completely normal for kids to walk anywhere from a year to 18 months. I intend not to worry about it just yet.

Hi, I know you have heaps of replies but thought I'd add mine. I have 4 kids. The first 2 walked at 13 and 14 months. My 3rd son walked at 19-20 months but he was an excellent climber where another boy his age could walk but not climb. I know have a little girl who, at 14mths, is not walking yet but just took a few steps on the weekend. Each to theri own time!

My daughter is 13 months and still is not walking!! She does everything under the sun but walk...lol She stands on her own, pulls up on furniture, walks when assisted or with her walking toys, but just wont go on her own.....she even waves and says hi to everybody she sees.....They will do it when they get ready I guess...I see we are not alone!!

hi, don't panic, my bailey (13 months) isn't waking on his own yet, although he also will walk holding onto things. all children are different, my eldest son now 13 didn't walk until he was nearly 18 months-he was just too lazy! lol, whereas my daughter was walking (and talking) at 8 months. all children are different, enjoy the peace while it lasts! lol x

My little girl Lenka is 14 months and still does not walk unassisted. She cruises the furniture, stands on her own and even took her first few steps without help. And yet... She still refuses. It is good to see that there are other children just the same. I am not worried, Lenka will walk when she feels ready.

My little guy just turned 14 months old and he is walking only holding on to stuff and can stand up on his own no problem and I think he could walk if he really wanted to but he freaks out if he knows he has taken a step and has let go of something. I also get a lot of comments from people about why isn't he walking yet. I find it very offensive that people do that, especially other mothers, especially when they of all should know that every child does things at their own pace. I know it is only a matter of time and he will just be walking around like crazy and I am not at all worried. He is perfect and meeting milestones and isn't at all delayed he just doesn't want to get up and walk around by himself yet.

Mine isn't either. She enjoys toddling from furniture piece to furniture piece or in her crib & pack-n-play. They either talk or walk first. She has chosen to talk and now calls me by my first name-Yikes! (she learned from listening to my Mom call for me)

If in doubt, bring her to the pediatrician. More than likely, though, it is just her way of keeping balance. My daughter walked with her feet turned inwards when she first start attempting to walk while holding my hands. She now holds her feet normally.

My oldest son (now 2 1/2) didn't start walking until about 14 1/2 months. However he learned to crawl at 6 months. My youngest who is just over 14 months is not walking yet. He just starting standing alone about a week ago. He has always been such a relaxed baby and would just start to go with the flow. He has been working with a therapist to work on his muscle tone which has been low since an early age. She agrees with us that he is just a calm relaxed baby and will do things on his own time when he is ready.

I noticed that her left foot turns inwards when she walks while holding her not sure if this is something I should check out

The babies that tend to be more cautious tend to walk at a slightly older age. Generally even these babies walk by 15-18 months. My son (who is now 5) walked at 9 months and was full out running before his first birthday. My daughter (14 months) can cruise furniture and walk holding my hand but refuses to walk on her own (though she's taken many steps thinking I was going to give her my hand if she took a step closer, tricky tricky mommy). She probably won't do it until she is more sure of her capabilities and I'm not worried, nor should you be. Be patient. Once they start, they don't stop. The same will go for talking, I promise. :)

I understand mine is 14 mths and will not walk unless he is in the mood (that's every three days seems like). I am just patient with him and try not to pick him up unless it is absolutely necessary.

Hi, my son was 13 months on 26 Dec. He is not walking yet either. I have had the problem, as some other people have said, with people commenting on my son not walking yet. I got the comments so often that I started saying 'he's not walking yet' whenever anybody started talking to me. Then I'd get the response, 'he's too young yet!' - you can't win!

I think I find it hard because at 6months my sonwasn't interested in crawling and just wanted to constantly stand (even had to put his toys up on the sofa to stand at it and play!!) and try to walk round furniture soon after that. I was told by health visitor that she thought he would be walking by 9months - well 13months and still not quite there! He learned to crawl so has been making full use of that :)

I've tried hard to not get hung up on things like this but its hard not to. I was, and am, one of the first to tell others that all babies/children grow and develop at their own rate, but its harder to remember that when they are your own i think.

I have found it easier this last 2weeks as he has suddenly started showing improvement. He has done a couple of steps unaided a few times and is starting to enjoy it. He has been able to walk very well holding one finger with one hand for a while but has got steadier and steadier. He is standing for longer periods too.

I find it hard to just enjoy where he is at and what he is doing sometimes because i start to feel pressure from peoples comments - I think i need to stop and listen to my own advice - they will do it when they are ready :)

Reagan is 13 months and isn't walking completely either. She cruises...and even does this weird thing where she "walks" on her knees....faster than she can crawl. I put her in some Stride-Rite shoes right before Christmas, and she took her first steps on New Years Eve. I think the shoes helped...but even still, she isn't walking on her own. She's trying it a lot more though. We're practicing more and more though.

My children all started walking at different ages my first walked on his first birthday, my second walked at 11 months, the next two were 18months and 19 months but were able to stand alone on my bed and cruise round furniture etc! My son who is now 3 walked at 15 months and my daughter who is 14 months cruises round furniture and an stand alone but no interest in walking yet!

All kids do it in there own time as you can see by my lot he will walk when he is ready!

Sebastian isn't either. He takes between 3-6 steps then sits down once he realizes he is doing it! He turned 13 months on the 20th of December. I'm not going to stress or worry about it. He will when he is ready. My mother-in-law says he is too smart to walk.....that he knows he will fall if he takes too many steps. LOL.

don`t worry, your child will start to walk soon ,my child was the same ,she is now 60 weeks and she just try to walk ,ex :5 steps and down ,you just need to help you child little just to hold on one hand and try to walk but dont press life your child to feel ,little ones had a instict ,every child grow up diferent !

My 13 month nearly 14 month old boy isn't walking yet either he only started crawling around 11 months, he stands up against furniture and walks along. My daughter now 7 started walking at 1 and i just presumed he would too but every child is different im not so worried now.

My son is during the same thing and he is also climbing in the couch and the stairs we have to have the gate at the bottom of the stairs he will take steps and sit down I think he getting close to walking

My oldest son did not start walking until he was about 15 months old, the doctor even assured me it was fine, so no worries! He'll walk when he's good and ready and then you'd better put on your running shoes!

My son is 13 months old and just started walking. He had tubes put in his hears last Thursday and was walking by Sunday. Children will walk in thier own time. I was at a doctors office that said children will walk anywhere from 8-18 months. They shouldn't be pushed to walk either. Mommies you are doing a great job no matter what anybody has to say!

My daughter is doing the same thing she cruise around the furniture stands by herself in the middle of the room.. but she crawls super fast but now she is just walking along the walls and furniture to get around instead of crawling. some babies just will do it when they our ready!! good luck!!

My son JUST started walking last wk end. On Saturday he just decided it was time and took off. Your baby will do it whenever he's ready-esp if he can stand from a sitting position. My son did that shortly before he took off!

They say walkers and jolly jumpers encourage kids to walk on their tippy toes. It's not always the case, my daughter was in both of those things and walks flat as anything. Studies always have something to criticise. Mothers have been using them for years and nothing was ever said about them until recently. Every baby is different. They will walk eventually. If you think, the only reason it bothers you so much is because of other babies walking. Not everyone picks up sport quickly, or how to play a game no matter how old you are and we don't get worried something is wrong with us so why push babies so they can fit in with the other babies?? They'll get there.

my lil girl does the same thing but no walking yet, she was 2 month premature so i dk if that has something to do with it or not?
