Night wetting & not sleeping?

My son is 14 months old. He used to sleep through the night, go to sleep no problem. For the last 2-3 months he has been waking up almost every night (when wet) in the middle of the night crying/screaming. His diapers (extra protection night diapers) have not been holding, and ends up completly soaked. I have avoided giving him anything to drink before bedtime, and change him right before putting him in the crib. By the time I change him and any wet sheets he is AWAKE!!! He then refuses to go to sleep, unless of course I provide him with some milk. I've tried rocking, letting him cry it out, it has lasted HOURS, and nothing but the bottle works, OF COURSE. Anyone recomend a better diaper? Or a way to get him to go to sleep without drinking more?

I also use Pampers Dry Nights for my son and have to say that even though they seem like a bag ready to burst the next morning, they still hold very well. Could it be that your son is feeling cold? I tend to put on an extra layer of clothes so that even when he removes the bedsheets he remains warm.

A friend of mine suggested to use a wash cloth in his diaper at night to soak up some of the wet before it gets to the diaper. I had success doing this. The only problem is what to do with the soaked wash cloth in the morning. My childs bedroom is on the second floor and our laundry room is in the basement.

I am having the same issue with my 14 mo daughter! Do not feel alone! She has been practically completley weaned from the bottle since her first birthday and now in the last month it is the ONLY thing that will comfort her if she wakes in the night. I feel awful giving in to her but I feel awful hearing her cry too! And as if that's not enough in the last three nights not only does the bottle not work by itself but she practically jumps in me like a monkey and won't lay back down without me! We've never let her sleep with us in bed and all of a sudden she is super clingy and won't sleep any other way wince she wakes in the middle of the night! What gives!!

Huggies Overnites have worked for us. We use Luvs during the day and they have worked better for us than any other brand, but overnight we needed something better as my son drinks a lot before bed. I do find that if they are the least bit too small, they tend to leak. Is it possible he is waking up hungry? My son has to have a snack and his milk before bed or he wakes up hungry during the night and won't go back to sleep until I give him something. I tried all kinds of things too before I realized that was what the problem was. Good luck!

Have you tried Pampers diapers? I normally use Luvs, but at night I use Pampers to avoid leaks. So far, we haven't had issues with Landon waking up soaked, but that may be because we have a hard time getting him to drink a lot of milk. Unfortunately, I don't know what to tell you about how to get him back to sleep without drinking more milk. I hope you get some relief soon!
