Right now my girl is getting in her molars so lots of crying and runny noses. On top of that she picked up a cold with all the Christmas visiting! I am proud to say this is only her second cold! my problem is I think she would be so much better off if we could just clear that nose. She absolutley hates the nasal asperator was just curious if there is any other option or maybe so techniques that worked for you!

some good wipes that we use are Boogies Wipes (you can get them at toys r us or babies r us and they are a saline wipe that wont dry out their noses with constant wiping! we have gone through one pack with this cold (its his first one) and his nose has yet to be chafed and i am CONSTANTLY wiping his nose!

i am having the same problem and a close family friend who is big into natural remedies and local foods/farming suggested giving RAW milk. i am not really sure why but i havent been able to find it so we havent tried it but her children and her childrens children have all been given raw milk for colds and they have cleared up with in days

My little man has had a cold a month since he was born. I use his receiving blankets as boogie rags since he doesn't like them as blankets- they keep his nose from getting raw, and I use the little noses saline drops, if he is really bad I usually use the infant baby rub (like vicks but for babies) that seems to keep his nose clear. If she is having problems sleeping, try propping her up on a boppy or pillow of some sort. Steaming up the bathroom and sitting in there with her is a quick fix that works great too.

I just bought a battery nasal aspirator at wal-mart and I love it. I sucks it out a little bit nicer then the old fashion aspirator. Was a bit pricey BUT my little one will stick her little nose in the air and lets me do it without having to hold her down. She must know that she can breath better after I do it. Nasal mist works good too...

Vicks makes those vapor plug ins that may help a bit. Unfortunately, the nasal aspirator is your best bet. She'll be SUPER chafed at you, but ask her daddy to help. My son was in the hospital for RSV at 6 weeks and the nurses told me that even though it makes them mad, you have to hold them down (arms, head and everything), use the saline to loosen it up, and then stick the aspirator as far up there as it will go and pull out as much as possible with as few passes as possible with the aspirator. Good Luck!!

I agree with the saline mist and wiping (when they'll let you!) A humidifier can also be useful if it's just a little snuffly, otherwise I find that steaming up the bathroom is really good...a few weeks ago I was in there at least twice a night with my little one, but it helped him breathe and clam down and then we could think about sleeping again...unfortunately lying down is a crappy position for having a blocked nose, and a blocked nose is really crappy for breastfeeding.

It is part of having kids - grizzling & snotty noses. Warning don't wear black as snot shows up on it! Other than constant wiping of nose I also used to rub a little vaseline just underneath to stop their nose getting dry & sore. Also at bedtime rub a little vapour rub on her chest & back to help with breathing at bedtime. Good luck.

Have you tried a saline mist, that sometimes works for my daughter. We also put a humidifier in her room at night and that has helped her sleep.
